Women in Aviation International (WAI) has received a\n$100,000 grant from the William Penn Foundation Special Gifts Program to\nsupport the organization\u2019s work to increase the number of women involved in all\naspects of aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith COVID’s profound effect on the aviation industry, we\nneed more women to pursue aviation careers to meet the current and growing\nworkforce challenges,\u201d says WAI CEO Allison McKay. \u201cThis generous gift from the\nWilliam Penn Foundation will allow us to strengthen all our programs designed\nto attract, retain, and advance women in aviation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the last 60 years, the introduction of women into the\nindustry has been largely stagnant. Aviation\u2019s current gender balance limits\nthe industry\u2019s ability to attract the best possible talent. As a result,\naviation faces a shrinking talent pool and a loss of access to the innovation,\ncreativity, and risk management that a more diverse aviation community provides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith this gift, the William Penn Foundation has\ndemonstrated that they are visionaries who understand that they can play a\nvital role in strengthening aviation around the world,\u201d adds Allison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With more than 16,000 members active in nearly 160 chapters\nin 90 countries, Women in Aviation International is the largest nonprofit\norganization in the world dedicated to increasing the number of women who are\ninvolved in all aspects of aviation and aerospace.
