Cooling as board\nchair and business aviation leader Douglas Schwartz as vice chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the organization engaged in the transformation of its\nHeritage Hall and Education Center in Dayton, Ohio, and working at the\nforefront to deliver elementary aviation education, these aviation and\naerospace leaders will take charge at a particularly consequential time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJim and Doug have well-earned reputations as respected and\nvisionary leaders in the aviation industry. The NAHF has built significant\nmomentum under the leadership of outgoing chair Michael Quiello and Vice Chair\nDavid Brixey. They will ensure our future as an organization dedicated to\nhonoring aviation legends and inspiring future leaders,\u201d said NAHF Interim\nPresident and CEO Aimee Maruyama. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the nation\u2019s only Congressionally chartered aviation\nhall of fame, The NAHF is widely respected for its unique role in spotlighting\nthe individuals who have built the rich past, present, and future of American\naviation,\u201d said Cooling. \u201cI look forward to continuing to work with fellow\nmembers and the incredible staff that make up this organization to honor,\ncelebrate, and share the stories of the 256 men and women enshrined in the NAHF\nwho have significantly contributed to the advancement of our nation&#8217;s aerospace\nlegacy.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith its newly launched, comprehensive STEAM aviation\neducation program and the ongoing transformation of its Heritage Hall and\nEducation Center, the NAHF is leading the charge to inspire and build the\naviation workforce of tomorrow,\u201d said Schwartz. \u201cIt is a privilege to represent\nsuch a dynamic and important organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NAHF <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalaviation.org\/about\/leadership-and-staff\/\">Board of Trustees<\/a> provides guidance and leadership in developing the organization&#8217;s educational vision, programs, and annual enshrinement. Cooling (Jim) is the founding partner of the Kansas\nCity based aviation law firm of Cooling &amp; Herbers, P.C. The firm represents\ncorporate operators, aircraft owners, air charter operators, urban air mobility\n(UAM) operators, as well as other aviation-related businesses in the\nacquisition, sale, leasing, financing, and taxation of aircraft, including FAA,\nIRS, and SEC compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Cooling is a 1968 graduate of the University of Notre\nDame Law School and received his B.A. from the University of Missouri in 1965.\nHe is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the Lawyer Pilots Bar\nAssociation, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and is admitted to\npractice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is an aircraft owner and pilot holding\ncommercial, instrument, multi-engine and flight instructor ratings with a\nCessna Citation jet type rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the\nNational Business Aviation Association (NBAA), a past Chairman of the Aviation,\nTransportation and Space Law Committee of the Missouri Bar, past President of\nthe Aviation Insurance Association, a member of the Aviation and Space Law\nCommittee of the American Bar Association, a member of the Aircraft Owners and\nPilots Association and the EAA Legal Advisory Council. He received the NBAA\nJohn H. Winant award for a lifelong contribution to the aviation industry. He\nwas elected to the Board of Trustees of the National Aviation Hall of Fame in\n2011. Since retiring in 2016, he continues to share his\nknowledge and experience as an independent consultant (Cardinal Aviation\nAdvisors, LLC) and also functions as Vice President, Operational Excellence. He\nretired from ConocoPhillips, where he led the company\u2019s Global Aviation\nServices team, responsible for providing safe and efficient air transport for\nmore than one million passengers annually. Prior to joining ConocoPhillips,\nDoug was Director of Aviation for AT&amp;T Corporation. He began his aviation\ncareer with FlightSafety International, where he served in various leadership\nand technical roles.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to his service to the NAHF, Doug currently\nserves on the Technical Advisory Committee of Corporate Angels Network. He is a\npast member of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Board of\nDirectors, International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) Governing Committee,\nand Flight Safety Foundation Board of Governors; and a recipient of the\nAviation Week &amp; Space Technology Laurels Award, Flight Safety Foundation\nMeritorious Service Award, and NBAA John H. Winant Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doug has more than 4,500 flying hours with type ratings in\nthe Dassault Falcon 2000, Falcon 20, and Learjet.
