The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) announced\nthis week that Capt. Claude Hurley, FRAeS, has joined IBAC as the new Director,\nEnvironment and Flight Operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurt Edwards, IBAC Director General, commented, \u201cWe are\nhonored to have Claude join the IBAC team. Given his respected work at ICAO as\nCanada\u2019s Representative to the Council and as an Air Navigation Commissioner,\nhis regulatory experience at Transport Canada, and his flying assignments\naround the world, he brings a depth of understanding of the environmental and\noperational complexities facing international business aviation. I look forward\nto working with Claude and am confident he will effectively represent the\nbusiness aviation community in critical forums at ICAO and with our member\nassociations.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Permanent Representative of Canada to the\nInternational Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council, and Canada\u2019s nominee\nto the Air Navigation Commission – including for two terms as its President –\nCapt. Hurley served in key roles over the last nine years at ICAO, where he\nworked on a range of important issues regarding the environment, safety,\nsecurity, aviation\u2019s restart and recovery from the pandemic, and the\nintroduction of new entrants to the air transport system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claude\u2019s career in aviation began in the Canadian Armed\nForces as an officer and a pilot, flying in tactical aviation and Search and\nRescue roles. His civilian flying career spanned remote operations in the\nCanadian arctic, as an air ambulance pilot, to flying operations overseas,\nwhere he served as a training pilot, check pilot, technical type pilot, and\nbase manager. In 2010, Claude joined Transport Canada, where he soon led teams\nresponsible for aviation safety oversight and later continued his substantive\nposition as a Transport Canada Executive while on assignment at ICAO.         <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Director, Environment and Flight Operations, Claude\nHurley will lead IBAC\u2019s environmental initiatives to raise awareness of and\nadvocate for sustainable aviation fuel and other measures to reduce business\naviation\u2019s environmental impacts. \nImportantly, he will represent IBAC at key ICAO bodies that set\nstandards and guidance on environmental and operational safety matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali Alnaqbi, Chairman of the IBAC Governing Board and\nFounder and Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Business Aviation\nAssociation (MEBAA), said, \u201cOn behalf of the IBAC Governing Board and our\nMember Associations and Industry Partners around the world, we welcome Claude\nto the IBAC team. Claude Hurley received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree\nfrom the Royal Military College of Canada and is a Fellow of the Royal\nAeronautical Society (FRAeS), bestowed upon professionals recognized for their\nextensive quality experience, high responsibilities, and outstanding\ncontributions in the profession of aeronautics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
