A highlight will be William Shatner receiving the\n“Aviation Inspiration and Patriotism Award.” Mr. Shatner is a private\npilot and is world-renowned for television and film roles including the Star\nTrek series. He made history as the oldest living person to travel to space\nwhen he flew on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space shuttle on Oct. 13, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The list of honorees also includes Mike Silvestro, the CEO\nof Flexjet. Mr. Silvestro will receive the “Lifetime Aviation Industry\nLeader Award” for his work in the fractional private jet industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other awardees include Tim Ellis, who will receive the\n“Eren Ozmen Entrepreneur of the Year Award.” Mr. Ellis is the Founder\nof Relativity Space. Relativity invented a new approach to design, print and\nfly its own rockets, starting with the world’s first 3D printed rocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daniel Drohan will receive the “Kenn Ricci Lifetime\nAviation Entrepreneur Award.” Mr. Drohan founded Solairus in 2009 after\ndecades of owning successful aviation companies. Under Mr. Drohan’s leadership,\nSolairus has one of the largest fleets of managed business jets serving clients\nworldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Max Lyons will receive the “Elling Halvorson Vertical\nFlight Hall of Fame Award.” He is an aviator, business owner,\nphilanthropist and adventurer. In 1999, Mr. Lyons and his wife purchased\nHillsboro Aviation. He is dual rated in helicopters and airplanes, including\ncommercial instrument helicopters, single and multi-engine airplanes,\ninstrument airplanes, and multi-engine seaplanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mack Rutherford will receive the “Barron Hilton\nAviation Inspiration Award.” Mr. Rutherford holds the Guinness Book of\nWorld Record for being the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world in a\nsmall aircraft. He accomplished the feat in August 2022 at only 17 years old.\nHis sister, Zara, who finished her own global flight in January at age 19,\ncurrently holds the record for the youngest female to fly solo around the\nworld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Living Legends will also welcome new inductees to their\nranks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Greg Evans is an entrepreneur, philanthropist,\nand lifetime advocate for the business aviation industry. He is the Chairman of\nthe Board of Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc., the first company providing\ncomplete mission management services for business aviation.<\/li>
- Alan Eustace is a pilot and Google executive who\nperformed the highest human free-fall, jumping from 135,890 feet up in the stratosphere.<\/li>
- Tom Haines is a former Editor in Chief with the\nAircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He has flown more than 100 models of\ngeneral aviation airplanes.<\/li>
- Jared Isaacman, an American entrepreneur, pilot,\nphilanthropist, and commercial astronaut who led the first all-private citizen\ncrew into orbit. He is also the founder of Draken International, a private air\nforce provider and Shift4 Payments, a payment processor.<\/li>
- HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman is a former Royal\nSaudi Air Force pilot who flew aboard the American STS-51-G Space Shuttle as a\npayload specialist. He is the first member of a royal family to fly in space\nand the youngest person ever to fly on the Space Shuttle. In 2018, he was\nappointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Commission\nat the rank of minister.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
As is their tradition, the Legends will also pay tribute to\nseven Legends who have “Flown West” since the Legends last gathering.\nThey include Sigi Angerer, Joe Kittinger, Dietrich Mateschitz, Major General\nCarl McNair, Tom Poberzeny, Frank Robinson and Lou Turpen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Living Legends of Aviation are remarkable people of\nextraordinary accomplishment in aviation and aerospace; they include\nentrepreneurs, innovators, industry leaders, astronauts, record breakers,\npilots who have become celebrities and celebrities who have become pilots. More\nthan 100 men and women from across the world are among their ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
