{"id":24486,"date":"2023-01-09T19:51:37","date_gmt":"2023-01-09T19:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=24486"},"modified":"2023-01-09T23:17:52","modified_gmt":"2023-01-09T23:17:52","slug":"coastal-carolina-regional-airport-brings-annual-513-million-impact-to-state-local-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/north-carolina\/coastal-carolina-regional-airport-brings-annual-513-million-impact-to-state-local-area\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Coastal Carolina Regional Airport Brings Annual $513 Million Impact to State, Local Area"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyewn.com\/\">EWN<\/a>) helped support 2,465 jobs, brought in more than $27 million in state and local tax revenue and created an economic output of $513 million for the area, according to a report recently released by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report, titled North Carolina: The State of Aviation,\nhighlighted the economic impacts of the state\u2019s public airports and related\naviation and aerospace assets that support North Carolina\u2019s aviation economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to be part of our community, not only for the\naccess to air travel but also by supporting good jobs and creating significant\nstate and local economic impact,\u201d Airport Director Andy Shorter said. \u201cOur\nairport is within a 30-minute drive for more than 120,000 area residents and\nwe\u2019re glad they turn to us for their air travel needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report also helps guide future investment in aviation\ninfrastructure and provide a tool for recruiting aviation and aerospace\nindustry companies and investment, according to NCDOT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNorth Carolina\u2019s aviation system continues driving the\neconomy by connecting people, companies and communities to markets and\ndestinations worldwide,\u201d said Bobby Walston, director of NCDOT\u2019s Division of\nAviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shorter said he expects their economic impact to continue to\ngrow with the upcoming continuation of the seasonal, non-stop flights between\nEWN and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), the major terminal\nexpansion project that is underway and the runway improvement project that is\njust kicking off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe expect the added flights and the new improvements we\u2019re\nmaking to strengthen the airport\u2019s long-term appeal and functionality for\nairlines and passengers alike,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in the past two years, EWN completed or initiated a\nnumber of other key projects that will help the airport grow into the future including:\nthe new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) facility and a commercial\naircraft hangar facility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) helped support 2,465 jobs, brought in more than $27 million in state and local tax revenue and created an economic output of $513 million for the area, according to a report recently released by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
