Walmart\u2019s drone delivery service is now available for select\ncustomers in the Dallas-area. The new delivery option will be fulfilled from 11\nstores, making it easier than ever for customers to grab those last-minute\ngifts. No assistance from Rudolph needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This marks the first time customers in Texas can take advantage of Walmart\u2019s drone delivery, following the retailer\u2019s earlier announcement of plans to expand its DroneUp network to reach <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/newsroom\/2022\/05\/24\/were-bringing-the-convenience-of-drone-delivery-to-4-million-u-s-households-in-partnership-with-droneup\">four million additional households<\/a> across 6 states, including Texas. From last minute meal solutions to a package of Christmas cookies, Walmart has successfully executed thousands of same-day drone deliveries to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDrone delivery makes it possible for our customers to shop\nthose last-minute or forgotten items with ease, in a package that\u2019s frankly\nreally cool. Being on the forefront of that innovation at Walmart is something\nwe\u2019re proud of,\u201d said Vik Gopalakrishnan, vice president, innovation &amp;\nautomation, Walmart U.S. \u201cIt may seem like a futuristic option, but it\u2019s giving\nour customers what they\u2019ve always wanted, and that\u2019s time back to focus on what\nis most important to them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s how it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/DroneUp_Walmart_DroneV1-edit-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24404\" width=\"253\" height=\"192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DroneUp_Walmart_DroneV1-edit-1.png 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DroneUp_Walmart_DroneV1-edit-1-300x227.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers living within a mile of a participating store can\nplace orders through www.droneupdelivery.com between the hours of 8:00 a.m. &#8211;\n8:00 p.m. local time. Drones can deliver more than 10,000 eligible Walmart\nitems up to ten pounds, including fragile items like eggs, in as little as 30\nminutes. There are no order minimums and the delivery fee is just $3.99. With\nuse of promo code FreeDeliveryTX, customers using drone delivery for the first\ntime will have the delivery fee waived. Academy in Southern Dallas this morning to host a hands-on drone\nflight and delivery demo alongside simulated activities for Advanced via\nIndividual Determination (AVID) students. Walmart presented the school with a\ndonation of $5,000 and graphing calculators for the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thankful to Walmart and DroneUp for investing in our\nscholars and providing an enlightening experience,\u201d said Principal Letrice\nPortley. \u201cThis donation will absolutely put these students on the path to\nsuccess, showcasing the powerful impact community-school partnerships have on\nthe lives of our future leaders, thinkers and innovators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In partnership with DroneUp, Walmart will offer drone\ndelivery in five other states in addition to Texas by the end of the year,\nincluding: Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Utah and Virginia.
