{"id":24370,"date":"2022-12-17T15:56:16","date_gmt":"2022-12-17T15:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=24370"},"modified":"2022-12-17T15:56:36","modified_gmt":"2022-12-17T15:56:36","slug":"nbaa-announces-new-scholarship-to-honor-retired-coo-steve-brown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/aviation-education\/nbaa-announces-new-scholarship-to-honor-retired-coo-steve-brown\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Announces New Scholarship to Honor Retired COO Steve Brown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has\nannounced the formation of the Steve Brown Leadership Scholarship, in honor of\nthe association\u2019s former chief operating officer, who retired earlier this\nyear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Steve-Brown-edit-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24371\" width=\"259\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Steve-Brown-edit-2.jpg 338w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Steve-Brown-edit-2-257x300.jpg 257w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><figcaption><em>Steve Brown<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarship was created by NBAA, in coordination with\nNBAA Charities, to support students interested in pursuing a career in business\naviation who are currently enrolled in programs to achieve this goal. Two\nawards of $1,500 each will be given out annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe business aviation industry, and aviation as a whole, is\nbetter, stronger, safer and more efficient as a direct result of Steve Brown\u2019s\ndecades of leadership,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cThis scholarship\nwill help identify and grow the next generation of leaders who will move our\nindustry forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown joined NBAA in October 2004 as senior vice president\nof operations before being named COO in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining NBAA, he served for six years as the FAA\u2019s\nassociate administrator for air traffic services, and in that capacity, he was\npivotal to our nation\u2019s response to the attacks on 9\/11. Before that, he served\nas president of the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) and senior vice\npresident, government affairs for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association\n(AOPA). He was a member of the faculty at Texas A&amp;M University, where he\ntaught several aviation-related courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown also served as chairman of the board of directors of\nRTCA, a not-for-profit aviation standards organization. Additionally, he served\non the Aviation Accreditation Board International, where he previously was\nchairperson and treasurer. He also led many subcommittees for the NextGen\nAdvisory Committee. In 2021, he was named to the TSA Aviation Security Advisory\nCommittee, which is tasked with providing recommendations for improving\naviation security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA Charities offers monetary and training scholarships for\nboth students and aviation professionals, such as flight department managers,\npilots, maintenance technicians, schedulers, dispatchers, flight attendants and\nflight technicians.
