Kathy Hochul for vetoing the \u201cStop the Chop\u201d act, which would\nhave allowed anyone to sue a pilot, flight department, line service personnel\nor company employee operating in the state for alleged helicopter noise\npollution, even if the operation was legal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA also thanked its members and other stakeholders who\nanswered the association\u2019s call to action and contacted the governor about the\ndetrimental legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill passed the NY state assembly on June 3, 2022. NBAA\nworked with its New York partners to oppose the legislation, arguing that the\nbill as written could have far-reaching detrimental impacts on business\naviation across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kathy-Hocul.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24358\" width=\"159\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kathy-Hocul.png 500w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kathy-Hocul-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kathy-Hocul-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kathy-Hocul-60x60.png 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 159px) 100vw, 159px\" \/><figcaption><em>Gov. Kathy Hochul<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In her statement vetoing the bill, Hochul noted, \u201cRegulation\nof aircraft and airspace is primarily a federal responsibility, and federal law\nsignificantly constrains the state\u2019s ability to legislate in this area. Certain\nelements of this legislation run counter to the federal scheme regulating New\nYork\u2019s airports and airspace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe thank Gov. Hochul for her swift action in vetoing this\nobstructive bill,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cIn New York, the\ngeneral aviation industry is responsible for 43,200 jobs and more than $8.6\nbillion in total economic output, and this proposed legislation would have done\ngreat harm to our industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also thank the many NBAA members who reached out to the\ngovernor over the past few months to let her know the harm this bill would\ncause to business aviation across the state of New York,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today thanked NY Gov.
