Examples of commercial drone operations include\ninfrastructure inspections, package delivery, wireless internet and cell\nconnectivity, agricultural surveying and many more. Drones are also being used\nby first responders to save lives serving search and rescue, firefighting, and\npolice departments across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numerous industries are relying on drones for their\noperations, and significant industry growth is expected in the years ahead.\nAccording to the FAA, as of October 2022 there are 869,000 registered drones\nwith over 300,000 of those flown commercially; by 2025, there will be 2.49\nmillion operational drones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cState, local, and tribal governments have a key role to\nplay in the growing drone economy and the Drone Prepared campaign provides\ncritical resources for communities to understand the complex, evolving industry\nand begin preparing in ways that will welcome the industry, and its benefits,\nto their geographies,\u201d said Michael Healander, President &amp; CEO at Airspace\nLink, an AUVSI Premium Member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAA-Test-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24291\" width=\"254\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAA-Test-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAA-Test-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To educate lawmakers at the state, local, and tribal levels\nabout how they can prepare for this increase in drones in a way that brings\neconomic, environmental and workforce benefits, AUVSI will engage its robust\nnetwork of chapters and local advocates. The campaign will also leverage\nleaders in the industry, build coalitions with diverse partners, publish\nresearch, and provide recommendations on industry-backed solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In Texas, small business owners and large corporations\nalike are eager to leverage drones and take advantage of the many benefits they\nprovide. AUVSI Lone Star &#8211; and our other chapters throughout the nation &#8211; look\nforward to working closely with lawmakers to implement legislation that fosters\nthe continued growth of this exciting industry,&#8221; said Adrian Doko, AUVSI\nLone Star Chapter President and CEO of Imperial Aerial, Inc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the 2023 legislative sessions, AUVSI will support\nproposals in states nationwide to achieve drone preparedness which: (1) Promote\ndrone use for public benefit; (2) Recognize the authority of the Federal\nAviation Administration over airspace navigation and safety; (3) Leverage\nexisting laws that already address concerns like privacy and trespass; and (4)\nPromote technology neutrality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Smitsky, Director, Government Affairs at AUVSI,\nsaid: \u201cThe potential for expansion of commercial drone operations remains\ntremendous.
