{"id":24210,"date":"2022-12-05T16:08:43","date_gmt":"2022-12-05T16:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=24210"},"modified":"2022-12-05T16:11:22","modified_gmt":"2022-12-05T16:11:22","slug":"gordonsville-airport-celebrates-completion-of-runway-rehabilitation-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/virginia\/gordonsville-airport-celebrates-completion-of-runway-rehabilitation-project\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Gordonsville Airport Celebrates Completion of Runway Rehabilitation Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gordonsville Municipal Airport held a ribbon cutting\nceremony last month to celebrate the completion of a runway rehabilitation\nproject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project included redevelopment of the runway, taxiway\nand apron, including widening the runway to 50\u2019, flattening of mid-field rise\nin elevation, re-pavement of all surfaces, drainage improvements and new\nlighting. It was funded through a combination of the Virginia Department of\nAviation Capital project fund (80\/20 split) and the new Rural Airport Runway\nRehabilitation program (95\/5 split). The estimated total project costs are\napproximately $2.13 million ($1.47 million Capital funds and $663K Rural Runway\nfunds). The Virginia Department of Aviation provided $1.85 million in grant\nfunding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gordonsville-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24214\" width=\"375\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gordonsville-1.jpg 520w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gordonsville-1-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><figcaption><em>Gordonsville Municipal Airport<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe redevelopment of the runway, taxiway and apron at GVE\nhas been a long-time coming, and Gordonsville could not have accomplished this\nwithout the on-going support of the Virginia Aviation Board and the stalwart\nefforts of the Virginia Department of Aviation,\u201d Town Manager Debbie Kendall\nsaid. \u201cWe very much appreciate the partnership we have developed with DOAV, and\nthe completion of our runway project has established a solid foundation for\ncontinued improvements at GVE that will allow it to become a valuable asset for\neveryone in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rural Airport Runway Rehabilitation program was\ndeveloped by former DOAV Director Mark Flynn in 2018 to address the runway\nrehabilitation needs for the smaller local service airports that have limited\nbudgets and no access to federal funding. Gordonsville Municipal Airport is the\nthird local service airport in the Commonwealth to receive funding from the new\nprogram.
