The official ceremony to announce the upcoming opening of\nthe new Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey marks\na key milestone in the five-year history of the global Munich Airport\nInternational GmbH (MAI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Airport NJ LLC, which was specifically established by\nMAI, will assume responsibility for running the new Terminal A at Newark\nAirport on behalf of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ).\nThis includes operations, technical terminal maintenance and managing the\nretail and catering space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Terminal A at Newark Airport has a total area of\naround 93,000 m\u00c2\u00b2 and an annual capacity of up to 14 million passengers, making\nit one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state of New Jersey. The\nnew airport terminal will set new standards for airports in the US and around\nthe world. \u201cThe Port Authority of NYNJ, together with Munich Airport, has\ncreated infrastructure that uses state-of-the-art technology and efficient\nprocesses to provide a unique passenger experience and sets a new standard for\nthe entire American airport industry,\u201d said Jost Lammers, Chief Executive\nOfficer of Flughafen M\u00c3\u00bcnchen GmbH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modeled on Munich as a premium hub, the new Terminal A in\nNewark will also offer passengers a 5-star airport experience. The focus here\nis on the fascinating characteristics of the state of New Jersey. A pioneer in\nscience, art and culture, New Jersey provides inspiration for the design and\ncommercial facilities in the new terminal. The concept, which goes by the name\nof \u201cJourney of Surprises\u201d, integrates all retail and terminal areas into a\nfascinating digital journey: innovative, digital elements, regional art\ninstallations, regional and global food and perfectly arranged furniture make\ntraveling in Terminal A a special experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 100 MAI employees from 30 countries work in Newark and\nhave run the current Terminal A for three years. All of them are excited about\nthe terminal opening after three years of preparations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
