The inaugural flight from\nCincinnati\/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) arrived early Thursday\nmorning. I am proud of the efforts of our airport\nteam for delivering a high-quality facility, on-time and within budget, that\nmakes a bold and impactful statement about the economy here in New\nHampshire!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MHT is recognized as a top 50 cargo airport in the United\nStates and has seen several years of record-breaking cargo volume. This trend\nof higher cargo volumes is expected to continue with the opening of this new\nfacility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/unnamed-2022-11-20T103157.558.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24085\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/unnamed-2022-11-20T103157.558.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/unnamed-2022-11-20T103157.558-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><figcaption><em>The new facility provides access to five million people within a two-hour drive of the Airport.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re proud to expand our Amazon Air operations into\nNew Hampshire as we continue to invest in the New England region,&#8221; said\nChris Preston, Director of Amazon Air Gateway Operations. &#8220;This brand-new\nfacility at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport will help us better serve our\ncustomers and ensure we deliver packages quickly and efficiently across New\nEngland.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 65,000-square-foot multitenant cargo building was built\nthrough a partnership with the Airport and real estate investment company\nRealterm. The new facility offers three widebody aircraft parking positions\nmanaged by the Airport, with the option to expand to a fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is Amazon Air&#8217;s first expansion into New Hampshire, and\nAmazon is the first tenant to operate from the new facility. Flights will be operated\nby cargo airline Atlas Air, with ground handling by Trego-Dugan Aviation and\naircraft maintenance by Keenan Technical Industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;We are proud to\nbe part in this historic project with MHT and Amazon,&#8221; said Alexi\nLachambre, Vice President of Investments for Airport Infrastructure at\nRealterm. &#8220;MHT&#8217;s leaders have proven to be dynamic and visionary partners,\nable to capitalize on the surge of e-commerce and create economic opportunity\nfor their broader community. As demand for air cargo continues to grow,\nexceptional infrastructure projects such as this will help to relieve pressure\non the regional distribution network while also garnering the interest of major\nlogistics players. We look forward to continuing our partnership with MHT and\nsupporting future expansion.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new facility will drive economic growth in the region\nfor years to come. Through my role on the Senate Appropriations\nCommittee, I&#8217;ll continue to advocate on behalf of transportation and\ninfrastructure projects at MHT and across New Hampshire.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is already an\nindustry-leading cargo facility, so this new partnership with Amazon Air is a\nwelcomed addition,&#8221; said Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig. &#8220;This project\nwill provide more jobs for our residents in addition to boosting our local\neconomy. Thank you to the entire Airport team and the project engineers,\narchitects and contractors for your tireless commitment to making this project\nhappen.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This facility will enhance the connectivity of New\nEngland with the world of e-commerce,&#8221; said Taylor Caswell, the NH\nDepartment of Business and Economic Affairs Commissioner. &#8220;According to\nthe International Air Transport Association, 52% of consumers bought more\nonline during the pandemic, fueling the value of e-commerce which is now\nexpected to total $2.1 trillion in 2023 with 80% of cross-border e-commerce\nbeing transported by air. Having this facility in New Hampshire will allow the\nGranite State, and all of Northern New England, to tap into this growing sector\nof the global economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cargo activity played a vital role during the pandemic to\nhelp offset decreased air travel and passenger revenues.
