The two groups will be recognized during a special awards dinner held in conjunction with the Foundation\u2019s 75th annual <a href=\"https:\/\/flightsafety.org\/iass2022\/\">International Air Safety Summit<\/a> (IASS) in Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Aviation Safety InfoShare, which is a joint effort of\nthe U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and industry, was selected to\nreceive the Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal for its significant\ncontributions to the advancement of civil aviation safety. InfoShare, which was\nstarted in the mid-1990s, is a biannual, industry-sponsored and FAA-facilitated\nforum for participants from numerous segments of aviation to voluntarily share\n\u2014 in a protected environment \u2014 current and emerging safety issues, lessons\nlearned, best practices for data analysis, and successful mitigation\nstrategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal is named for\nJerry Lederer, one of the founders of the Foundation, who, in the 1940s, was\nfirst to facilitate the exchange of safety information through sharing of\ncritical information among airlines, government and industry, saving countless\nlives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zip-package-drop-1-edit-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23847\" width=\"275\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zip-package-drop-1-edit-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zip-package-drop-1-edit-1-300x256.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Zipline, which designs, manufactures and operates the\nworld\u2019s largest instant logistics and delivery system, and the governments of\nRwanda and Ghana, were selected to receive the Foundation\u2019s David Morrison\nInnovation Award for the development and implementation of their instant\ndrone-based logistics systems to safely and reliably deliver vaccines,\nmedicines, blood and other critical medical supplies over vast geographic areas\nin Rwanda and Ghana. The operations have had a demonstrable impact on\nhealthcare. Globally, Zipline operates on three continents and completes a\ndelivery every two minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The David Morrison Innovation Award is named for another FSF\nfounder. Morrison was an inventor and cockpit designer who played a critical\nleadership role in the early days of the Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards dinner will be held Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center and is an important part of the IASS 2022 agenda.
