{"id":23817,"date":"2022-10-24T17:15:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-24T17:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=23817"},"modified":"2022-10-24T17:15:09","modified_gmt":"2022-10-24T17:15:09","slug":"canadian-government-announces-important-investments-at-nunavut-airports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/canadian-government-announces-important-investments-at-nunavut-airports\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Government Announces Important Investments at Nunavut Airports"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Minister of Transport, the Honorable Omar Alghabra,\nannounced that the Government of Canada is making important safety investments\nat local and regional airports in Nunavut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through Transport Canada&#8217;s Airports Capital Assistance\nProgram, four airports in Nunavut will receive over $5.4 million for\nsafety-related projects and equipment that will help maintain safe airport\noperations for passengers, crews and airport workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airports receiving funding are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cambridge Bay Airport &#8211; $420,000 to purchase a\n4&#215;4 plow truck<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Clyde River Airport &#8211; $210,000 to purchase a\nloader-mounted snow blower<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Coral Harbour Airport &#8211; $420,000 to purchase a\n4&#215;4 plow truck<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Whale Cove Airport &#8211; $4.4 million to\nrehabilitate airside granular surfaces<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;With Canada being such a large country, our airports\nare critical to keeping communities connected, especially in our Northern\ncommunities and Territories,\u201d said Minister Alghabra. \u201cThis investment in local\nand regional airports in Nunavut will ensure that residents across Nunavut\ncontinue to be able to see their loved ones and have access to essential air\nservices. Our government made a commitment to Canadians to build safer,\nhealthier, and stronger communities as we rebuild from the pandemic, and\nthrough investments like these, that&#8217;s exactly what we&#8217;re doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This funding is in addition to the more than $1.9 million\nannounced under the Program in May 2021, to support safety-related projects at\nthe Coral Harbour, Kimmirut, Pangnirtung and Rankin Inlet airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Northern communities across Canada depend on well-maintained\nairports to keep them connected.
