Programs and services\nfocus on education outreach, global impact, and U.S. medical transport. As a\ntwice-nominated Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Wings of Hope serves as a force for\ngood in the international community. Sixty years ago, Wings of Hope began its\nimpactful work by sending aircraft to Kenya to deliver vital medical care and\nsupplies. Since then, they have continued to grow and increasingly assist\npeople worldwide regardless of political standing, economic status, or\nreligious affiliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wings of Hope relies on a base of volunteer pilots to carry\nout the group&#8217;s mission. \u201cThe secret ingredient for Wings of Hope is our incredible\ngroup of dedicated volunteers,\u201d said Wings of Hope President and CEO, Bret\nHeinrich. \u201cFrom purchasing to pilots, our volunteers make profound\ncontributions to our mission. I am humbled to accept the Spirit of Flight Award\non behalf of our amazing volunteers, staff, board, and most importantly, those\nwe serve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NAHF\u2019s Spirit of Flight Award serves to recognize\norganizations that serve a special need of the nation and set high standards\nfor excellence in the utilization of aerospace assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is no higher calling than to save lives,\u201d said NAHF\nPresident and CEO Amy Spowart. \u201cTo combine that with aviation is extraordinary.\nThe Board of Trustees of the NAHF overwhelmingly and enthusiastically selected\nWings of Hope from a list of worthy candidates. What set Wings of Hope apart\nfrom the other nominations is not only that they fulfill the criteria of the\naward, but also exceed it by sharing education grounded in their mission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NAHF Enshrinee Patty Wagstaff made the nomination of Wings\nof Hope. Wagstaff said, \u201cI am proud to magnify the message of Wings of Hope.\nThey serve without prejudice and offer lifesaving medical attention around the\nworld. I also support their efforts to inspire the next generation of pilots,\nespecially girls and young women, through their SOAR into STEM educational\nprogramming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past Spirit of Flight winners includes the WWII-era \u201cFlying\nTigers,\u201d the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), the Women Air Force Service Pilots\n(WASPs), NASA, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the Boeing\nCompany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wings of Hope will receive the award on September 23, 2022,\nas part of the National Aviation Hall of Fame\u2019s 58th Enshrinement events. Over\n600 people are expected to attend two days of events in Dayton, including\nindustry leaders and several returning Enshrinees, including former NASA\nastronauts Charlie Bolden, Eileen Collins, Bob Crippen, and Hoot Gibson,\naviation visionary and test pilot Clay Lacy, general aviation titans Dale\nKlapmeier, and John &amp; Martha King. NAHF candidates Rhea Seddon, Ed Bolen,\nand Connie Tobias will also join the celebration this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony, led by emcee CNN\u2019s Pete Muntean, features the\nformal installment of the NAHF Enshrinee Classes of 2020 and 2022; (The late)\nSecond Lieutenant Eugene J. Bullard, USAF., (The late) Dr. Maxime \u201cMax\u201d A.\nFaget, Ms. Joan Sullivan Garrett., (The late) Captain Richard \u201cDick\u201d F. Gordon,\nUSN, Colonel\/Dr. Paul G. Kaminski, USAF (Ret).
