{"id":23047,"date":"2022-08-07T01:33:12","date_gmt":"2022-08-07T01:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=23047"},"modified":"2022-08-07T01:33:13","modified_gmt":"2022-08-07T01:33:13","slug":"salem-gets-850k-federal-grant-to-support-regional-air-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/oregon\/salem-gets-850k-federal-grant-to-support-regional-air-service\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Salem Gets $850K Federal Grant to Support Regional Air Service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The City of Salem will receive $850,000 from the U.S.\nDepartment of Transportation\u2019s Small Community Air Service Development Program\nto recruit, initiate, and support new air service to Los Angeles, Calif., San\nFrancisco, Calif., Las Vegas, Nev., and Phoenix, Ariz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRegional air service through small airports just like\nthis one in Oregon\u2019s capital city are crucial to our state\u2019s economy,\u201d U.S.\nSenator Ron Wyden said. \u201cI am gratified to see these dollars go toward\nexpanding regional air service in Salem to have a more accessible option for\ntravel in and out of the Mid-Willamette Valley. Investing in smaller airports\nlike the Salem Airport lays the groundwork to continue to support our state\u2019s\neconomic growth and tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley echoed that stating, \u201cRegional\nairports serve an important role in supporting Oregon\u2019s economy and by\nexpanding service, they increase opportunities for business and Oregonians.\u201d \u201cI\nam happy to see this funding going to the Salem Airport to recruit a commercial\nairline provider and expand their air service. Sen. Merkley said he is looking\nforward to seeing the results!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank the senators for their support for\nthis grant,\u201d Salem Mayor Chuck Bennett said. \u201cThis money is an important step\nin the City of Salem getting back commercial air.
