Lavender, who will begin his new position on\nAugust 15, currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Denver\nInternational Airport (DEN). In his new role, he will manage MSCAA\u2019s strategic\nbusiness, prepare and monitor the airport\u2019s budget, manage airline use and\nlease agreements, negotiate rates and charges, issue revenue bond debt, and\noversee risk management. He will also oversee MSCAA\u2019s Procurement, Properties,\nHuman Resources, Finance and IT departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lavender has more than 21 years of experience in the finance\nindustry in both the public and private sectors. He previously worked at\nBirmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport as Interim CEO and directed the\nFinance, Parking and Concessions departments. He has extensive experience with\nthe financial management of major airport projects, including a $1.8B bond\noffering that will complete DEN\u2019s current capital improvement plan, a $201\nmillion bond-financed terminal modernization project, a multi-million-dollar\nrental car facility project, and development of a Compressed Natural Gas\nstation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lavender will succeed Forrest Artz, who will retire\neffective October 29, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSylvester Lavender is an industry leader and brings a\ntremendous wealth of knowledge and experience to the MSCAA management team,\u201d\nsaid Scott Brockman, MSCAA President and CEO. \u201cHis addition will help ensure\ncontinued strong financial performance, furthering the legacy that his\npredecessor Forrest Artz established.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lavender is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) He majored\nin accounting and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1993 and\ncompleted post-graduate work in accounting.
