North Dakota\u2019s air travel demand during the summer months\nremains strong as residents and visitors take advantage of the state\u2019s air\nservice opportunities. During the first\nhalf of calendar year 2022, North Dakota\u2019s eight commercial service airports provided\na total of 497,322 passenger boardings. \nThis is a growth of 118,498 passengers or a 31% increase when comparing\nthe statewide passenger counts to the first six months of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the recent month of June, North Dakota also posted a\ntotal of 84,630 airline passenger boardings which is a 4.5% increase from June\nof 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Dakota\u2019s overall passenger counts remain approximately\n15% below the pre-pandemic passenger numbers that were last experienced in\n2019. The available seats and flights\navailable to the traveling public throughout North Dakota are also still below\npre-pandemic levels as airlines continue to communicate difficulties in adding\ncapacity into the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cancellations and delays in airline flights have also risen\nthroughout the country during the busy summer travel season. Most of the negative impacts are being seen\nat large hub airports outside of the state as departures from within North\nDakota have been dependable with an overall low cancellation rate. Current estimates show that less than 2% of\nall planned flight departures from within North Dakota were cancelled during\nthe month of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThroughout the summer months, our airports continue to show\nstrong passenger demand while also providing travelers with reliable departures\nto our non-stop destinations outside of North Dakota,\u201d stated Kyle Wanner,\nExecutive Director of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission. \u201cAs the industry\ncontinues to work to train additional staff and adjust flight schedules, we\nhope to see reductions in the amount of flight cancellations and delays that\nare currently being experienced throughout the country.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
