{"id":22806,"date":"2022-07-18T23:57:16","date_gmt":"2022-07-18T23:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=22806"},"modified":"2022-07-18T23:57:18","modified_gmt":"2022-07-18T23:57:18","slug":"aopa-announces-alliance-program-to-cross-promote-complementary-aviation-organizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/aopa-announces-alliance-program-to-cross-promote-complementary-aviation-organizations\/%20","title":{"rendered":"AOPA Announces Alliance Program to Cross-Promote Complementary Aviation Organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is launching an\nAOPA Alliance organization program designed to cross-promote groups that have\nmutually beneficial goals for the full aviation community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AOPA is introducing this initiative with the Antique\nAirplane Association (AAA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Niche aviation associations and type clubs, such as AAA, are\na critical part of the general aviation fabric. While they are among the most\navid aviation groups, many pilots and aircraft owners who would benefit from\ntheir educational programs and sense of community may be unfamiliar with AAA\nand other such groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AOPA Alliance program will support these types of\norganizations through a dedicated web page on aopa.org and exposure in AOPA\nprint, online, and video media channels. AOPA allied organizations will, in\nturn, educate their members about AOPA\u2019s mission and initiatives through their\nwebsites, channels, and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based at Antique Airfield (IA27) in Blakesburg, Iowa, the <a href=\"https:\/\/antiqueairfieldia27.com\/\">Antique Airplane Association<\/a> is the world\u2019s oldest organization dedicated to antique and classic aviation. Formed in 1953 by Robert L. Taylor, and currently run by son Brent Taylor, its mission is to help the owners, restorers and pilots of antique and classic aircraft to \u201ckeep the antiques flying.\u201d The association comprises 3,500 members across the U.S., who fly a range of vintage and classic aircraft dating from the 1920s through the 1950s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each Labor Day weekend, members gather at the annual\nAAA\/APM\u00e2\u0080\u0088Invitational Fly-in held at Antique Airfield, this year slated for\nAugust 30 through September 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile different organizations may have different goals and\nmemberships, all of GA needs to come together and protect our shared passion\nfor aviation and our collective freedom to fly,\u201d said AOPA President Mark\nBaker. \u201cMembers of the Antique Airplane Association are among the most\npassionate aviators we know and share many values with AOPA. This is a great\nfit, and we look forward to such partnerships with other organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen AOPA began in 1939, most of the airplanes viewed today\nas antique or classic aircraft were then current production airplanes,\u201d said\nTaylor. \u201cThis affiliation will bridge that past with the present for both\norganizations.
