The four-day race started\nin Lakeland, Florida, and ended in Terre Haute, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 12 collegiate teams in the 2022 race, two of Auburn Aviation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.auburn-arc.com\/our-teams\">War Eagle Women<\/a>-led teams placed in the top five\u2014teams 65 and 63 placed second and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Maggie-Hearn-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22729\" width=\"255\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Maggie-Hearn-edit.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Maggie-Hearn-edit-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/><figcaption><em>Maggie Hearn<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Air Race Classic was an amazing opportunity that\nencouraged growth in decision-making, communication and perseverance when it\ncame to flying for long periods of time,\u201d said professional flight senior and\nTeam 65 pilot Maggie Hearn. \u201cMy favorite thing about the air race was getting\nto know my teammates on a deeper level and making connections with other women\nin the industry who I will know for the rest of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auburn\u2019s 2022 Air Race Classic teams were comprised of\nstudents and recent graduates of the professional flight program. She participated in the Air Race\nClassic this year as the co-pilot for Team 65.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter competing in the race, I now see it as a phenomenal\nopportunity to better understand myself as a pilot, improve my crew resource\nmanagement skills, partake in a unique experience and create lifelong bonds\nwith other racers,\u201d Moorman said. \u201cThis year\u2019s race presented us with extreme\nhighs and lows, allowing all three Auburn teams to celebrate what went well,\nlaugh about what didn&#8217;t go well and become closer than ever. This year\u2019s race\nshowed us exactly how much we can handle, as well as our strengths.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ashley-Baldwin.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22731\" width=\"234\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ashley-Baldwin.jpg 750w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ashley-Baldwin-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/><figcaption><em>Ashley Baldwin<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Professional flight senior and Team 63 pilot Ashley Baldwin\nsaid the Air Race Classic allowed her to apply what she\u2019s learned during flight\ntraining to the test in a competitive, cross-country environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cARC is a unique opportunity to meet female pilots from\naround the country and share the experience of flying across the country,\u201d\nBaldwin said. \u201cThe ARC is helping me prepare for a career by teaching me more\nabout flying in different areas of the country with different weather patterns,\nterrain and airspace and introducing me to strong women in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meg Cooper, a 2021 professional flight alumna and Team 63\nco-pilot, said the Air Race Classic helped her grow, both as a pilot and a\nperson ready to take on new challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Meg-Cooper.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22732\" width=\"248\" height=\"186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Meg-Cooper.jpg 750w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Meg-Cooper-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><figcaption><em>Meg Cooper<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Air Race revolves around women supporting women,\u201d\nCooper said. \u201cThe entire race focuses and thrives from the companionship that\nthe teammates, racers, volunteers and everyone involved creates. It wouldn\u2019t be\npossible without it, and it wouldn\u2019t be nearly as fun either! Team\n65 placed second in legs two and nine, from Moultrie, Georgia, to Muscle\nShoals, Alabama, and from Tullahoma, Tennessee, to the finish line in Terre\nHaute, Indiana; and placed fourth in legs six and eight, from Ada, Oklahoma, to\nLawrence, Kansas, and from Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to Tullahoma, Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Team 63 also placed third in leg six.
