Lee is one of nine youth artists who placed nationally in the U.S. portion of the contest, which is coordinated annually by the NASAO Center for Aviation Research and Education and sanctioned by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winners of the 2022 International Young Artist Contest\nwere announced by its sponsor the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration A\u00e9ronautique Internationale (FAI).\nThe goal of the contest is to inspire youth to reflect on the importance of\naviation, and express their ideas through art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contest submissions are grouped into three separate age\ncategories for judging, allowing students ranging from 6 \u2013 17 years old to\ncompete. The 2022 theme, \u201cDesign Your Perfect Aircraft\u201d encouraged participants\nto take inspiration from the wonders of nature and human innovation to create a\nvision of something they would like to see in the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for the U.S. national contest, all artwork was\nfirst submitted into state-level competitions, with the winning entries\nforwarded to NASAO for national award consideration. This year, NASAO received\nover 160 pieces of art from 15 participating states.
