Gale, A.A.E., Chair of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) for 2022-23 has awarded Oklahoma Director of Aeronautics Grayson Ardies a 2022 AAAE Leadership Award for his work on the U.S. Contract Tower Association Policy Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies_AAAE-Leadership-Award-_2022-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22673\" width=\"290\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies_AAAE-Leadership-Award-_2022-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Grayson-Ardies_AAAE-Leadership-Award-_2022-edit-242x300.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><figcaption><em>Grayson Ardies<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1928, AAAE is the world&#8217;s largest professional\norganization representing the individuals who work at public-use commercial and\ngeneral aviation airports. AAAE&#8217;s 9,000 members represent some 875 airports and\nhundreds of companies and organizations that support the airport industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies has been the Director of the Oklahoma Aeronautics\nCommission since November 2020. The Commission&#8217;s mission is to promote aviation\nand aerospace, which includes fostering the growth of the aerospace industry\nand ensuring that the needs of commerce and communities across Oklahoma are met\nby the 108 public airports that comprise the state\u2019s air transportation system.\nArdies emphasis continues to be on promoting the aerospace industry, one of the\nstate\u2019s largest industries and top employers; critical planning and development\nfor the state\u2019s air transportation system; making the state\u2019s 49 regional\nbusiness airports the best possible economic centers in their communities and\nencouraging public-private partnerships to promote the aerospace industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has led many statewide agency initiatives including a\nthree-year effort working with the state legislature to protect military\ntraining airspace. He also managed a two-year project that conducted an\nAerospace and Aviation Economic Impact Study which established the industry as\nthe second-largest economic engine in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ardies was awarded the honorable 2020 State Aviation\nDistinguished Service Award from the National Association of State Aviation\nOfficials (NASAO). The award, established in 1989, honors State Aviation\npersonnel who have excelled in their service and dedication to aviation\nprogress and development in their state. Ardies was also listed in the Power 15\nList in Aviation and Aeronautics in Oklahoma by the Journal Record in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director Ardies graduated from the University of Oklahoma\nwith a degree in Aviation Management with double minors in Business\nAdministration and Air Traffic Control. As part of his education through the\naviation program, he also received a commercial pilot\u2019s license with single and\nmulti-engine instrument ratings and is a certified flight instructor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark E.
