Stanton is an author, editor, aerobatic pilot, and aviation\njournalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/beth-stanton.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22641\" width=\"254\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/beth-stanton.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/beth-stanton-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/beth-stanton-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/beth-stanton-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><figcaption><em>Beth Stanton<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Stanton joins NAFI at the retirement of long-time Director\nof Publications and Editor David Hipschman. She will oversee the publication of\nNAFI\u2019s weekly e-newsletter, eMentor, and its bi-monthly Mentor magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLeaving NAFI after more than 11 years is an emotional\nmoment,\u201d Hipschman said. \u201cHaving introduced my old friend Beth to the NAFI\nBoard and seeing the synergy erupt, I know NAFI members will be in fantastic\neditorial hands going forward. I\u2019m grateful to the three separate board chairs\nI\u2019ve had the pleasure of working with over the years and especially grateful to\nthe members who have been generous with the stories they\u2019ve submitted and the\nadvice they\u2019ve shared.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the transition from Hipschman, 69, Stanton said: \u201cDavid\nhas been a sage mentor to me these past months. It\u2019s been an honor to work with\nthe master.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stanton said her life took a turn after she earned her\nprivate pilot certificate in 2011. Facing her fear of spins, she sought unusual\nattitude training three weeks after her checkride and inadvertently discovered\nthe thrill of aerobatics. She flew competition aerobatics for seven years,\nwinning state, regional and western U.S. championships. She has served as\npresident and a director of the International Aerobatic Club (IAC) Northern\nCalifornia Chapter 38.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stanton has conducted FAAST safety seminars promoting\nunusual attitudes and spin recovery training. She has spoken on topics ranging\nfrom risk-taking to goal achievement for aviation and women\u2019s civic\norganizations around the country and has served as a panelist and mentor at San\nFrancisco Bay Area Women of Aviation Week events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stanton writes feature articles for various aviation\npublications and is the innovation columnist for EAA Sport Aviation magazine.\nHer editorial experience encompasses manuscripts, magazines, speechwriting, and\nnewsletters. She is the creator and host of the Badass Pilot Babes podcast,\nwhich celebrates the multifaceted work and play of female aviators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to flying high-performance tailwheel aircraft,\nStanton is a Part 107 drone pilot and has flown helicopters, seaplanes,\naerobatic gliders, balloons, an electric airplane, and was a test pilot for an\nelectric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle prototype. Other aviation\nadventures include air show announcing and crewing in the Biplane Class at the\nReno National Championship Air Races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRetiring editor David Hipschman is a colleague and true\nfriend of NAFI and the industry,\u201d NAFI President Paul Preidecker said. \u201cHis\ncontributions and guidance over the years have been instrumental in our\nsuccess.
