This year&#8217;s awards presentation\ntook place at the 2022 Colorado Airport Operators Association (CAOA) Spring\nConference held in Grand Junction, CO June 8-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Colorado Airport of the Year &#8211; Centennial Airport (APA)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Colorado Airport of the Year Award was presented to\nCentennial Airport by the Colorado Division of Aeronautics in recognition for\nthe airport&#8217;s outstanding contributions to the Colorado Aviation System.\nAirports distinguished with this award demonstrate values that fall in line\nwith the CDOT Division of Aeronautics&#8217; mission to advance a safe, efficient,\nand effective statewide aviation system through collaboration, investment, and\nadvocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Centeniel-Airport.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22533\" width=\"408\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Centeniel-Airport.png 550w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Centeniel-Airport-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 408px) 100vw, 408px\" \/><figcaption><em>Centennial Airport <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Since May 12, 1968, Centennial Airport &#8211; APA (formerly known\nas Arapahoe County Airport) has been Denver\u2019s south metro air connection.\nToday, Centennial airport continues to hold the rank as the United States\u2019\nsecond busiest general aviation airport, providing airport users a safe and efficiently\noperated airfield that provides access to all reaches of the world. Centennial\nAirport\u2019s robust infrastructure and prime location has attracted an incredible number\nof aviation-related businesses to the airport to thrive in the economic synergy\nthat can be felt throughout the airport. The future vision of Centennial\nAirport is now led by 23-year APA veteran Mike Fronapfel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of everyone\nat Centennial Airport. We could not have earned this award without the hard\nwork and dedication of our staff and the support of our aviation community.\nReceiving this recognition from our peers makes this honor even greater,&#8221;\nsaid Centennial Airport Director Mike Fronapfel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the 2020 Economic Impact Study of Colorado\nAirports, Centennial Airport is responsible for supporting 10,341 jobs,\nproducing over $593 million in annual payroll, while generating $2.1 billion in\noverall business revenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Colorado Aviation Professional of the Year &#8211; Troy Stover<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Troy-Stover-1024x709.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22532\" width=\"313\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Troy-Stover-1024x709.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Troy-Stover-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Troy-Stover.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 313px) 100vw, 313px\" \/><figcaption><em> Colorado Springs Airport Assistant Director Troy Stover (left) is presented with the 2022 Colorado Aviation Professional of the Year by Aeronautics Division Director David Ulane. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Colorado Aviation Professional of the Year Award was\npresented to Colorado Springs Airport&#8217;s Assistant Director of Aviation, Troy\nStover, by the Colorado Division of Aeronautics in recognition of outstanding\ncontributions to the Colorado Aviation System. Individuals distinguished with\nthis award demonstrate values that fall in line with the CDOT Division of\nAeronautics&#8217; mission to advance a safe, efficient, and effective statewide\naviation system through collaboration, investment, and advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troy began his aviation career just after graduating high\nschool working as an Airfield Maintenance Technician\/Aircraft Rescue Fire\nFighter at Jefferson County Airport (now known as Rocky Mountain Metropolitan\nAirport -BJC). Troy\u2019s passion for aviation and airports directed him to earn a bachelor\u2019s\ndegree in Aviation Management from Metropolitan State University of Denver.\nTroy worked his way up to BJC\u2019s top rank as Airport Manager, and in 2005, Troy\naccepted an opportunity to become the Airport Facilities Manager at Colorado\nSprings Airport (COS). Since 2013, Troy has held the position of Assistant\nDirector of Aviation, overseeing the airport\u2019s administration, finance, and\nbusiness development functions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a member of the aviation industry for over 35 years, this award is a true honor,&#8221; said Stover. &#8220;I\u2019ve had the pleasure of working with amazing people over my career and without my team at the airport and our partners none of our successes would be possible.
