The Academy of Model\nAeronautics event is for groups of students, ages from 11-17, who build an\nunmanned aircraft system (UAS) and compete against other teams to complete a\nspecific mission through different obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe competition allows kids to have the opportunity to\ncreate innovative technology while also developing valuable life lessons within\nthe workforce,\u201d said Kyle Jaracz, AMA\u2019s Education Director. \u201cIt is always\nexciting to see what the kids envision and how they work as a team to develop\nand compete with an unmanned aircraft system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teams that are competing at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Creekview\nAeronautics Team (Canton, GA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Redstone\nComposite Squadron (Huntsville, AL)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Flying\nNuggets (Decatur, GA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ryken Flying\nKnights (Leonardtown, MD)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; McIntosh\nAeronautics (Peachtree City, GA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Sato Drone\nTeam Quad-dragons (Long Beach, CA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Midtown\nDrone Team (Atlanta, GA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Some Assembly Required (Mt. Airy, MD)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition will take place on July 28-29 near the\nsouthwest corner of Camp Scholler. The top teams from the national level will\nbe recognized during Friday\u2019s afternoon air show. Teams in first, second and\nthird place will receive Skydio products and scholarship awards funded by the\nAMA Foundation and Skydio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first national competition held at EAA AirVenture 2021\nconcluded with the champion: Some Assembly Required of Rockville, Maryland,\nsecond place: McIntosh Aeronautics of Peachtree City, Georgia, and third place:\nCreekview High School Aeronautics of Canton, Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UAS4STEM is a competition that allows kids to see different career opportunities in the UAS and aviation industries. UAS4STEM is a program of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
