Russ Maguire of Norwood Memorial Airport and Tom Maher of Plymouth Municipal Airport also served terms as president of the Massachusetts Airport Management Association (MAMA) during the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Russ Maguire &#8211; Norwood Memorial Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Russ-Maguire.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22482\" width=\"295\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Russ-Maguire.jpg 932w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Russ-Maguire-300x161.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><figcaption><em>Russ Maguire<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Russ&#8217; administration, fully realized capital projects\nat Norwood total more than $21 million. Russ is a fully accredited airport\nexecutive (A.A.E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).\nFrom that organization, he also earned the airport-certified employee (ACE)\ndesignation with a specialization in airport security. He holds a master\u2019s\ndegree in aviation\/aerospace management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical\nUniversity, with undergraduate degrees in aviation technology (University of\nAlaska-Fairbanks) and journalism (University of Missouri-Columbia). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Author of more than 300 industry articles and communications\npieces, Maguire\u2014a one-time public relations director at Embry-Riddle\u2014is also a\nrated senior aviator, having flown medevac and air assault missions for 13\nyears in the U.S. Army. Additionally, he holds a commercial pilot\u2019s license\nwith an instrument rating. Nationally, Russ has served on AAAE\u2019s General\nAviation Committee, with professional membership in the American Institute of\nAeronautics and Astronautics as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tom Maher &#8211; Plymouth Municipal Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tom-Maher.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22483\" width=\"276\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tom-Maher.jpg 851w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tom-Maher-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tom Maher<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom Maher, Plymouth Airport&#8217;s hard-working chief will retire\non June 30 after 27 years at the helm of the state&#8217;s busiest non-towered\nairport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graduate of Northeastern University, and a private pilot,\nTom began his aviation career pumping fuel and dispatching for Wiggins Airways\nthrough the 70&#8217;s and then served as manager at Norwood Airport for fourteen\nyears beginning in 1981. In 1995, he took the helm at Plymouth and has overseen\na number of airport improvements including runway and taxiway improvements, the\nattraction of many new businesses and public services and the construction of a\nnew Administration Building. When asked he said that his proudest achievement\nwas the addition of an ILS at a time when the FAA just wasn&#8217;t approving projects\nof that scope at airports the size of Plymouth.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom modestly said, &#8220;Plymouth Airport is a great airport\nnot because of me but because of the users and companies based and using the\nairport. I thank the Plymouth Airport for allowing me to work at and manage the\nairport all these years. I hope I will leave the airport a little better than\nwhen I first came.&#8221; He added, &#8220;Patience is a virtue and aviation\ntakes patience.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom&#8217;s future plans include staying connected to the aviation\ncommunity perhaps in the private sector and putting many more miles on his\nbicycle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two well-known Massachusetts Airport Managers will be retiring this month, each with 27 years of service in their current positions.
