{"id":22368,"date":"2022-06-06T23:46:48","date_gmt":"2022-06-06T23:46:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=22368"},"modified":"2022-06-06T23:46:50","modified_gmt":"2022-06-06T23:46:50","slug":"11-36-million-announced-for-alabama-airport-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/alabama\/11-36-million-announced-for-alabama-airport-improvements\/%20","title":{"rendered":"$11.36 Million Announced for Alabama Airport Improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) announced that nine\nlocal airports in Alabama will receive approximately $11.36 million in Federal\nAviation Administration (FAA) grant funding.&nbsp;\nAwarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the grants are\ndesignated for various improvements and advances to local airport\ninfrastructure and administered through the fiscal year 2022 Airport\nImprovement Program, which was funded in the Consolidated Appropriations Act,\n2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is great news.&nbsp;\nMore than $11 million for improvements to our local airports means\neconomic development and the potential for new jobs right here in Alabama,\u201d\nsaid Senator Shelby.&nbsp; \u201cAlabama is open\nfor business, and we must continue advancing our infrastructure if we want to\nremain prosperous.&nbsp; I am pleased that\nthese airport upgrades and security enhancements will support the growth and\nsuccess of many communities in Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 10 FAA grants were awarded to nine local airports in\nAlabama, amounting to $11,366,292 for the following airport projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Huntsville International-Carl T Jones Field,\nHuntsville, Alabama \u2013 $4,225,389 to rehabilitate an apron, expand an access\nroad, rehabilitate an access road, seal taxiway pavement surface and pavement\njoints, and shift or reconfigure an existing taxiway<\/li><li>Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport,\nBirmingham, Alabama \u2013 $2,925,000 to seal runway pavement and surface pavement\njoints and seal taxiway pavement and surface pavement joints<\/li><li>Bibb County Airport, Centreville, Alabama \u2013\n$1,521,654 to reconstruct a taxiway and construct a taxilane<\/li><li>Mac Crenshaw Memorial Airport, Greenville, Alabama\n\u2013 $800,000 to rehabilitate a taxiway<\/li><li>Centre-Piedmont-Cherokee County Regional\nAirport, Centre, Alabama \u2013 $494,910 to expand an apron<\/li><li>Courtland Airport, Courtland, Alabama \u2013 $400,000\nto seal taxiway pavement and surface pavement joints<\/li><li>Robbins Field Airport, Oneonta, Alabama \u2013\n$332,381 for obstruction marking, lighting, and removal<\/li><li>Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport,\nBirmingham, Alabama \u2013 $306,000 to shift or reconfigure an existing taxiway<\/li><li>Jeremiah Denton Airport, Dauphin Island, Alabama\n\u2013 $225,958 to construct, extend, and improve a safety area<\/li><li>Hartselle-Morgan County Regional Airport,\nHartselle, Alabama \u2013 $135,000 to update an airport master plan or study<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) announced that nine local airports in Alabama will receive approximately $11.36 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant funding.&nbsp;
