{"id":22316,"date":"2022-06-05T14:14:28","date_gmt":"2022-06-05T14:14:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=22316"},"modified":"2022-06-05T14:15:21","modified_gmt":"2022-06-05T14:15:21","slug":"bahamas-delays-click2clear-customs-rollout-after-aopa-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/bahamas-delays-click2clear-customs-rollout-after-aopa-request\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Bahamas Delays Click2Clear Customs Rollout After AOPA Request"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Bahamas announced an indefinite postponement of its new\nClick2Clear customs entry and departure program for private pilots and\npassengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AOPA President Mark Baker received notice on May 31 that the\nacting Comptroller of Bahamas Customs, Paul Munroe, called for a delay in\nimplementing the program \u201cpending further discussion by Customs, government\nofficials and programmers to address reasonable concerns expressed by\nstakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/AOPA-Bahamas.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22317\" width=\"245\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AOPA-Bahamas.jpg 880w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AOPA-Bahamas-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 245px) 100vw, 245px\" \/><figcaption><em>Photo by Chris Rose.  <\/em><br> <br><br><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy sincere appreciation to Mr. Munroe, as well as those in\nthe Ministry of Tourism and Aviation. This decision reflects leadership and the\ngreat working partnership AOPA enjoys with the Bahamas. Our shared goal is to\nensure pilots continue flying to the beautiful Islands of the Bahamas,\u201d said\nBaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After learning from CST Flight Services Director Rick\nGardner, who also serves as a Bahamas Flying Ambassador, that the Click2Clear\nprogram had a number of technical issues, Baker sent a May 24 letter to Bahamas\nofficials requesting a delay in the rollout of the program. He cited the need\nfor more time to address the issues and also to help pilots understand the\nonline process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis pause will allow the necessary time to obtain feedback\nfrom impacted stakeholders to make any necessary improvements to the\nClick2Clear initiative, provide education and training on any new customs\nprocesses, and implement the initiative during a lower air traffic period to\navoid confusion and any major disruptions in the event of a system\nmalfunction,\u201d Baker wrote in the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter also mentioned that AOPA is a significant\nsupporter of travel to the Bahamas, including the popular AOPA Pilot Guide:\nBahamas Edition, which has been the go-to resource for private pilots flying to\nthe Bahamas for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AOPA will continue to update members on discussions\nconcerning Click2Clear and any new implementation date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bahamas announced an indefinite postponement of its new Click2Clear customs entry and departure program for private pilots and passengers.
