Since\njoining the NATA staff in January 2020, DeBerry has served as NATA\u2019s Senior\nVice President of Safety and Education, Senior Advisor of Regulatory Affairs\n(Maintenance), and liaison for its Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technology\nCommittee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DeBerry will assume the COO role from Jason Miller, who will\ncontinue to serve NATA as Chief Financial Officer.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe NATA Board thanks Jason Miller for taking on the\nadditional role of COO in early 2020 and is thrilled to add Keith\u2019s vast\nindustry expertise and operational experience in leveraging organizational\nefficiencies to the leadership team,\u201d stated NATA President and CEO Timothy\nObitts. \u201cKeith is well-respected in our organization and within the industry.\nWe look forward to his guidance as we continue to grow our team and build a\nmember-driven internal culture to ensure we are delivering the best member\nexperience possible.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before joining NATA, DeBerry served as the FAA\u2019s Academy\nDirector. Additionally, DeBerry led the Regulatory Standards Training Division,\nwhere he was responsible for providing the FAA\u2019s aviation safety inspectors and\nengineers technical training and managed the Academy\u2019s flight program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout his 22-year federal career, DeBerry gained\nextensive experience leading, directing, and managing aviation safety oversight\nactivities \u2013 preparing him for success in his role as the Supervisory Principal\nMaintenance Inspector for UPS Airlines, where he oversaw a workforce charged\nwith Congressional mandated safety oversight of UPS Airlines\u2019 300 aircraft\nfleet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Huggard-2-873x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22249\" width=\"284\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Huggard-2-873x1024.png 873w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Huggard-2-256x300.png 256w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karen-Huggard-2.png 934w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 284px) 100vw, 284px\" \/><figcaption><em>Karen Huggard<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>NATA also announced that Karen Huggard has been promoted to\nVice President of Government Affairs. Huggard will continue to lead NATA\u2019s advocacy\nefforts in Washington, D.C., and strengthen stakeholder partnerships,\ncollaborating on areas of common ground to protect NATA members from onerous\nregulation, advocate for sound policy, and advance the industry\u2019s future on\nissues including environmental sustainability, an unleaded aviation fuel\nsolution, and PFAS remediation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKaren\u2019s experience as a strategic communicator enables the\nAssociation to advance policy goals that support the business interests of our\nmembers,\u201d stated NATA President and CEO Timothy Obitts. \u201cShe puts our members\nfirst\u2014advancing efforts to safeguard our member businesses\u2019 present success\nwhile charting the course for the industry\u2019s future growth.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huggard is currently focusing on the upcoming FAA\nReauthorization, identifying and developing strategies to foster innovative\ngrowth, modernize infrastructure, increase sustainability, prioritize safety,\nstrengthen the aviation workforce, and increase efficiency\u2014while advocating for\nsufficient resources to equip the Agency to maintain a safe and secure NAS that\nsupports a thriving business aviation industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After beginning her career in public policy on Capitol Hill,\nHuggard spent 15 years as a strategic communications professional in\nMassachusetts, Wisconsin, and Virginia.
