{"id":22244,"date":"2022-05-25T15:24:46","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T15:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=22244"},"modified":"2022-05-28T12:43:13","modified_gmt":"2022-05-28T12:43:13","slug":"aashto-nasao-applaud-senate-committee-for-approving-legislation-to-support-advanced-air-mobility-planning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/aashto-nasao-applaud-senate-committee-for-approving-legislation-to-support-advanced-air-mobility-planning\/%20","title":{"rendered":"AASHTO, NASAO Applaud Senate Committee for Approving Legislation to Support Advanced Air Mobility Planning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) today applauded the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for approving the Advanced Aviation Infrastructure Modernization Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/services\/files\/5911808B-729A-4748-AA38-14D59635BFB5\">S.4246<\/a>) in the Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"226\" height=\"48\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/NASAO-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22245\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is critical to have federal, state, local, tribal, and\nother transportation stakeholders working together on this issue,\u201d said AASHTO\nExecutive Director Jim Tymon. \u201cWe need to ensure the safe integration of this\nnew technology into our transportation network, and we would like to\ncongratulate the Senate Commerce Committee and the legislation sponsors for\ntheir bi-partisan work to plan for this exciting new era in transportation.\nWith the recent House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passage of\ncompanion legislation, our states look forward to this important bill being\nsigned into law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cState aviation leaders appreciate this initiative by\nSenators Padilla and Moran to provide much needed support to state, local and\ntribal governments as they plan for these emerging aeronautical technologies\u201d\nsaid Greg Pecoraro, NASAO President and CEO. \u201cWe are glad that Congress\nrecognizes these resources are critical in assuring that the public interest is\nmet in their safe and accessible integration into the National Aviation\nSystem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Advanced Aviation Infrastructure Modernization (AAIM) Act, introduced by Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Jerry Moran (R-KS), authorizes a $25 million grant program for state, local, tribal governments, transit agencies, port authorities, and metropolitan planning organizations to plan the infrastructure needed to support advanced air mobility (AAM) operations. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee recently approved its version of the AAIM Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/6270\">H.R. 6270<\/a>), which was introduced by Representatives Rick Larsen (D-WA-2), Garret Graves (R-LA-6), and Dina Titus (D-NV-1).
