The FMA board had to choose from 6\nfinalists and were overwhelmed with the level of talent and passion. \u201cAs\ntypical, all six are well qualified and talented. The decision is not easy,\u201d said\nDr. Ian Blair Fries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"238\" height=\"137\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/flying-musicians.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22146\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Jovie will make an excellent pilot as she has proven that\nhard work, persistence, dedication, and passion works. She is an outstanding\nFlutist. Her approach to learning to fly will guarantee success. \u201cIn the fall,\nI will attend Vanderbilt university where I plan to major in mechanical\nengineering and minor in music performance while still managing to get in\nflight hours.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Zapp, co-founder and President of FMA, said, \u201cThe great\nnews is that FMA has grown by thirty-seven very talented, motivated, and\npassionate student musicians. They will all make excellent members of our\ncommunity\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FMA Solo Scholarships are made possible by sponsors,\ndonors, and members donating their time and talents. Though popular fund-raising\nevents such as HangarJAMs and music for corporate functions have been curtailed\nover the past 2 years, the Association has persisted with overwhelming support\nfrom across aviation and music communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can follow Jovie as she blogs about her journey. This scholarship\nis unique, bringing an aspiring music student from zero time to solo. FMA\ncovers roughly fifteen hours of dual instruction, online ground school,\ntraining materials, and additional products from sponsors. FMA envisioned and\ninstituted this scholarship program because it recognizes the parallel skills\ninvolved in flying and performing music and wants to promote both areas of\ngrowth in our inspired and dedicated future leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFlying and music are my two passions in life and the Flying\nMusicians have put both of those together for a great cause.
