The\ninaugural flight marks the first new international route added since 2019 and\nRDU\u2019s first transatlantic flight since March 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe welcome Icelandair to RDU as they begin providing\nnonstop service to an exciting new international destination,\u201d said Michael\nLandguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. \u201cThe\nreturn of international travel signals a new phase of recovery as we head into\nour busiest season of the year.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seasonal route will include flights to Iceland four\ntimes a week from May \u2013 October on a 160-seat Boeing 737MAX 8. It also provides\ntravelers with easy nonstop connections to more than 25 destinations in the\nUnited Kingdom, Scandinavia and Continental Europe and allows passengers to\ntake an Icelandair stopover for up to seven days at no additional airfare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to start service from our newest gateway,\nRaleigh-Durham,\u201d said Bogi Nils Bogason, president &amp; CEO of Icelandair\nGroup. \u201cThese flights will offer passengers more options when traveling to\nEurope and allow both business and leisure travelers the opportunity to visit\nour beautiful home, Iceland. The response we have received has been very\npositive and we look forward to welcoming Raleigh-Durham aboard.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Icelandair will help meet growing demand by offering\ninternational travelers nonstop service to a new destination and global\nconnections to major cities on both sides of the Atlantic.
