{"id":22099,"date":"2022-05-15T22:24:04","date_gmt":"2022-05-15T22:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=22099"},"modified":"2022-05-15T22:24:06","modified_gmt":"2022-05-15T22:24:06","slug":"nbaa-ceo-says-bold-actions-needed-in-congress-and-across-industry-to-build-future-aviation-workforce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaa-ceo-says-bold-actions-needed-in-congress-and-across-industry-to-build-future-aviation-workforce\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA CEO Says \u2018Bold Actions\u2019 Needed in Congress and Across Industry to Build Future Aviation Workforce"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and\nCEO Ed Bolen cited several industry efforts across multiple paths to build a\ndiverse business aviation workforce in a written statement to the U.S. House\nSmall Business Committee\u2019s Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and\nWorkforce Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the COVID-19 pandemic \u201cprovided a momentary\nreprieve from the transportation workforce shortage,\u201d Bolen noted many small\nbusinesses that utilize business aviation once again face challenges in\nattracting and retaining qualified workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs recovery and the worldwide demand for air travel\ncontinues to increase, we must come together and take bold actions that will\nenable the U.S. to maintain its role as the world leader in aviation,\u201d he noted\nin the statement, entitled, \u201cMoving Upwards and Onwards: The Workforce and\nInnovation Needs of the Aviation and Aerospace Industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Workforce development is a key focus of NBAA\u2019s advocacy on\nCapitol Hill, Bolen continued, including full funding for the Promoting Service\nin Transportation Act (H.R. 3310 and S. 1681) passed into law as part of the\nInfrastructure and Investment Jobs Act, which would establish a multimedia\npublic service campaign highlighting career opportunities in the transportation\nindustry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read Bolen\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/advocacy\/testimony-archives\/20220512-NBAA-Statement-House-Hearing-Moving-Upwards-and-Onwards.pdf?utm_source=&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=\">written testimony<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolen also cited NBAA\u2019s representation on the FAA\/DOT\u2019s\nWomen in Aviation Advisory Board and the Youth Access to American Jobs in\nAviation Task Force, and its partnership with organizations to promote\ndiversity, equity and inclusion, such as the Red Tail Flight Academy, to build\na bridge for the industry to recruit future aviation professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/professional-development\/yopro\/?utm_source=&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=\">Young Professionals in Business Aviation<\/a> (YoPro) program helps nurture future industry leaders, Bolen continued, while a dedicated Careers in Business Aviation Day at NBAA\u2019s annual Business Aviation Convention &amp; Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) draws hundreds of students to learn about industry careers. The association also utilizes its media channels to highlight DE&amp;I content and \u201cto promote the \u2018see it, be it\u2019 for students exposed to aviation careers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All these initiatives are vital to building a diverse\nworkforce capable not only of supporting today\u2019s business aviation operations,\nbut to help move the industry forward toward a future that will include\nelectric aviation, unmanned aircraft and advanced air mobility (AAM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through NBAA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/press-releases\/nbaas-new-aam-roundtable-will-advocate-for-interests-of-on-demand-air-mobility-sector\/?utm_source=&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=\">AAM Roundtable<\/a>, the association \u201cIdentified workforce challenges facing this sector and is actively engaging Congress and government agencies to address these concerns,\u201d Bolen said.
