North Dakota\u2019s eight commercial service airports posted a\ntotal of 97,561 airline passenger boardings during the month of March which is\na 35% increase in passengers from March 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This month also brought the state\u2019s highest level of airline\npassenger traffic that has been experienced over a monthly timeframe over the\nlast two years. The pre-pandemic month\nof February 2020 was the last time that the state posted a higher monthly\npassenger count. Multiple airports\nwithin the state have now surpassed or are very close to reaching pre-pandemic\npassenger demand levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Dakota also continues to trend above the national\naverage when looking at the overall pre-pandemic airline passenger recovery\nrate and the state is currently only 9% below the passenger counts experienced\nin March of 2019. Passenger demand\nthroughout the country has continued to stay strong in the domestic leisure\nmarket, however the business and international travel sectors are still\nsuffering from COVID-19 impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is exciting news to see the highest monthly airline\npassenger count in two years,\u201d stated Kyle Wanner, Executive Director of the\nNorth Dakota Aeronautics Commission. \n\u201cThese recent passenger numbers help to showcase the continual\nresiliency and positive recovery in demand for air transportation services\nwithin North Dakota.
