The company said the decision to locate its U.S.\nHeadquarters in Wichita was a logical choice given the site\u2019s deep-rooted\nhistory in aviation, the tremendous opportunities for growth in the\nmaintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and defense sectors, and its strong and\ntalented workforce. The new U.S. Headquarters is a key pillar in Bombardier\u2019s\nlong-term strategy for its presence and growth in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bombardier\u2019s footprint in Wichita includes an expanding\nservice center that supports Bombardier\u2019s entire family of Learjet, Challenger\nand Global business jets. The site also continues to operate one of the world\u2019s\nleading flight test centers that performs testing and certification of aircraft\nupgrades on all new Bombardier aircraft programs, including the ongoing\ncertification campaign for the Challenger 3500 jet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wichita is also home to the newly renamed Bombardier\nDefense, reflecting the company\u2019s strategic expansion of its existing\nSpecialized Aircraft division. The expanding defense market is a key area of\ngrowth for the company. With the reinvented Bombardier Defense, led by Steve\nPatrick \u2013 Vice President Bombardier Defense, the company will leverage Original\nEquipment Manufacturer (OEM) design, manufacturing and certification expertise\nto provide agile, innovative solutions hosted on Bombardier\u2019s class leading aircraft\nplatforms. This center of excellence for defense applications, technology and\ninnovation fully leverages the Wichita workforce and local industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bombardier Defense today also confirmed additional firm\norders for modified versions of its Global 6000 aircraft, as part of a\npotential $465 million USD order from the United States Air Force (USAF) in\nsupport of the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program. Last\nyear, Bombardier was awarded the sole-source engineering and modification\nIndefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (ID\/IQ) contract from the USAF to\nmodify up to six Global 6000 business jets to become E11-A BACN platforms.\nBombardier Defense will continue to leverage Wichita\u2019s highly reputed expertise\nto provide in-service support and upgrades to the USAF\u2019s expanding BACN fleet,\nunderscoring Bombardier\u2019s status as a key U.S. aerospace employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWichita was the obvious choice as the home of Bombardier\u2019s\nnew U.S. Headquarters and Bombardier Defense,\u201d said \u00c9ric Martel, President and\nCEO, Bombardier. \u201cFor more than 60 years, the established skills and expertise\nfrom the Air Capital of the World is second to none, and this latest confirmation\nfrom the United States Air Force is a testament to the confidence they have in\nour aircraft and importantly, in the strength of our people in Wichita.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the announcement of Wichita as the company\u2019s U.S.\nHeadquarters, Bombardier also announced today that Tonya Sudduth, former Vice\nPresident of Operations, Wichita site, has accepted the newly created role of\nHead of U.S. Strategy. Based in Wichita, Tonya Sudduth will lead Bombardier\u2019s\nU.S. strategy, leveraging her extensive knowledge and rich aerospace experience\nto build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the community,\ngovernment and industry to further strengthen and grow Bombardier\u2019s presence\nacross all its sites in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bombardier continues to grow its footprint in the U.S. and in\nWichita. The company has harnessed the high-level know-how of the teams in\nWichita and doubled the size of its service center workforce to meet existing\nand anticipated demand. From three hangars just four years ago, Bombardier\u2019s\nWichita service center has expanded to include seven hangars today, offering\nLearjet, Challenger and Global aircraft operators exceptional original\nequipment manufacturer (OEM) value and customer experience.
