As of today, it\u2019s also another home for Zipline\u2019s transformative\ninstant logistics system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, Zipline developed a partnership with Toyota Tsusho,\na part of the Toyota Group that operates in 120 countries around the world.\nToyota Tsusho is a nearly 100-year-old subsidiary of one of the world\u2019s largest\ncorporations. Zipline is a barely 10-year-old startup. But underneath these\ndifferences is a deep shared commitment to enhancing quality of life. As Toyota\nTsusho\u2019s three fields of focus articulate it, a commitment to improving\nmobility\u2013contributing to future convenient societies, resources and\nenvironment\u2013ensuring sustainable societies, and life and community\u2013supporting\ncomfortable and healthy lifestyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zipline-Japan-close-1024x722.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21821\" width=\"282\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zipline-Japan-close-1024x722.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zipline-Japan-close-300x212.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Zipline-Japan-close.jpeg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 282px) 100vw, 282px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Zipline and Toyota Tsusho first partnered in Ghana, where\nZipline delivers medical products from Gokals-Laborex Limited \u2014 Toyota Tsusho\nGroup\u2019s pharmaceutical distributor \u2014 to hospitals across the country. Today, we\ntook the next step in our partnership to sustainably offer more humans access\nto the goods they need, when they need them: serving the people of the Goto\nislands with automated, on-demand delivery of medical products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toyota Tsusho, via Sora-iina, a subsidiary company created\nto conduct these operations, will manage its own distribution center and flight\nservices from Fukue Port. Sora-iina\u2019s Got\u00c5\u008d distribution center will be the\nfirst in Asia and 14th in the world to operate Zipline\u2019s autonomous instant\nlogistics service, as well as the first in the world to be operated by a\npartner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Utilizing Zipline\u2019s end-to-end instant logistics system,\nSora-iina will manage and distribute medical supplies to pharmacies and\nhospitals across the Got\u00c5\u008d Islands, including to remote and isolated areas.\nThese operations include initial beyond visual line of site flights of nearly\n40 kilometers. They are capable of serving pharmacies, hospitals and homes\nacross hundreds of islands within a 23,000 sq km service area and reducing\ncarbon emissions up to 98% compared to delivery by car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Toyota Group has a decades-long track record of\nexcellence across transportation and logistics; now, they\u2019re ready to take on\nthe next frontier of mobility,\u201d said Keller Rinaudo, co-founder and CEO of\nZipline. \u201cTogether, we\u2019re taking an important step toward unlocking the impact\nof autonomous instant logistics technology in new use cases, new airspaces and\nentirely new geographies.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An archipelago of 140 islands in Japan is home to nearly 75,000.
