The skills learned during the camp will include completing a\nflight plan that culminates in a cross-country flight to Wichita, learning how\nto take off and land, performing flight maneuvers and utilizing the tools of a\nprofessional pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The camp will feature four missions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mission 1 \u2014 Students will complete a pre-flight\ninspection, take-off and landing, and traffic patterns to gain 30 minutes of\nflight time.<\/li><li>Mission 2 \u2014 Students will learn basic flight\nmaneuvers to earn 30 more minutes of flight time.<\/li><li>Mission 3 \u2014 Students will use K-State Salina&#8217;s\nstate-of-the-art flight simulators to experience instrument flight.<\/li><li>Mission 4 \u2014 The camp will culminate with a\nflight from the Salina Regional Airport to Wichita, with lunch included at the\nrenowned Stearman Field restaurant. Students will earn 90 minutes of flight\ntime in this mission.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The summer program is at the Kansas State University\nAerospace and Technology Campus in Salina. The campus offers professional pilot\nassociate or bachelor&#8217;s degrees. The campus has a premium fleet of 35 aircraft\nand flight training devices and is adjacent to a towered airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fly K-State Academy is designed for students entering ninth\nthrough 12th grades.
