Photo\u00c2\u00a0curtesy\u00c2\u00a0of\u00c2\u00a0RAF.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is far more than an agreement to provide volunteers\nand RAF grant money for projects in Texas,\u201d RAF Chairman John McKenna said.\n\u201cThe State of Texas is looking to the RAF for expertise and guidance on\nmanaging aviation assets in their parks while identifying new opportunities to\nprovide additional recreational access.\u201d RAF Texas Liaison Tres Clinton worked\nclosely with Texas State Representative and RAF member John Cyrier on this MOU.\nRep. Cyrier said, \u201cAfter our accomplishments in the legislative session, we\nbelieved this was the right next step to formalize the partnership between the\nRAF and TPWD.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement also authorizes the RAF to assist TPWD in\n\u201cplanning future recreation aviation opportunities by proposing areas and\nairstrips to be utilized for recreational aviation access and purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TPWD will collaborate with the RAF when opportunities arise\nfor participation in public planning, implementation, and evaluation of land,\nwater, and waterways for projects designed to enhance aviation access to state\nparks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting the RAF Code of Ethics, the document states,\n\u201cEach pilot is an ambassador to the non-flying public.\u201d Pilots are expected to\nact with courtesy for those on the ground by maintaining reasonable distance\nand altitude and avoiding low level flights, unsafe operation, and excessive\nnoise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While signing the document, McKenna said, \u201cThis is an\nexciting day for all and hopefully the beginning of a long-term relationship\nthat all will find beneficial.\u201d Rep. Cyrier added, \u201cBoth of these groups are\ntop notch.
