{"id":21466,"date":"2022-03-28T20:05:10","date_gmt":"2022-03-28T20:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=21466"},"modified":"2022-03-28T20:05:13","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T20:05:13","slug":"nbaa-welcomes-senate-legislation-to-support-advanced-air-mobility-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaa-welcomes-senate-legislation-to-support-advanced-air-mobility-development\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Welcomes Senate Legislation to Support Advanced Air Mobility Development"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and\nCEO Ed Bolen applauded U.S. Senate passage of the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)\nCoordination and Leadership Act (S. 516), a bill that will facilitate the\ncreation of policies, procedures and programs to support the integration of\nthis emerging aviation sector into the country\u2019s transportation infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAAM is expanding the very definition of on-demand air\nmobility and presenting the United States with the opportunity to enhance the\ncountry\u2019s leadership in all aspects of aviation,\u201d said Bolen. \u201cWe welcome this\nlegislation, and we thank the bill\u2019s sponsors, Sens. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and\nKyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), for championing this exciting new technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Senate bill, and a companion bill passed by the U.S.\nHouse of Representatives (H.R. 1339) in November 2021, instruct the Department\nof Transportation to establish an AAM interagency working group to coordinate\nefforts related to the safety, operations, infrastructure, physical security,\ncybersecurity and federal investment necessary to bolster the AAM ecosystem in\nthe U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill is part of a broader legislative and regulatory\neffort supported by NBAA and industry stakeholders. This includes NBAA\u2019s work\nwith the Federal Aviation Administration to draft guidance on vertiports, and\nwith Transportation Security Administration officials on security best\npractices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA\u2019s advocacy also led to the introduction of the Advanced\nAviation Infrastructure Modernization (AAIM) Act. That bill directs the U.S.\nSecretary of Transportation to create a pilot program to offer planning and\nconstruction grants to support the development of the necessary infrastructure to\nsupport AAM operations, including public use vertiports.
