Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced a $100 million\ninvestment to modernize and strengthen Iowa\u2019s air transportation system through\nthe Iowa Commercial Aviation Infrastructure Fund.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iowa\u2019s eight commercial airports are eligible for funding\nthat will support modernization and expansion projects. Ninety percent of the\nfunds will be granted based upon passenger numbers from 2019 and the remaining\n10% will be split equally among the eight commercial airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIowa\u2019s commercial airports play a vital role in supporting\nthe economic development and prosperity of our state, and we need to ensure\nthat continues to be the case for many more years to come,\u201d said Gov. Reynolds.\n\u201cThis significant investment will help maintain momentum and encourage ongoing\ngrowth through transformative projects that will greatly benefit Iowans and\nother travelers that utilize our air transportation system.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iowa\u2019s airport system supported 2.2 million passengers and\n142 million pounds of cargo in 2019, prior to the pandemic. Iowa\u2019s airports are\nessential for our state\u2019s tourism, business growth and development, and\neconomic prosperity.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible projects under this program include terminal\nconstruction and renovations, parking structure construction and hangar\nconstruction.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iowa Commercial Aviation Infrastructure Fund will be\nadministered by the Iowa Department of Transportation utilizing one-time\nfederal funds from the American Rescue Plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
