Forest Service Eastern Aviation Hub"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Duplin County Airport Commission and Duplin County\nEconomic Development Commission welcomed the North Carolina Forest Service\n(NCFS) Eastern Aviation Hub to the county today (Feb. 24) with a ribbon-cutting\non a new $7 million hangar complex the NCFS will occupy at Duplin County\nAirport in Kenansville.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/NCFS-6-888x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21247\" width=\"283\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NCFS-6-888x1024.jpg 888w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NCFS-6-260x300.jpg 260w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NCFS-6.jpg 896w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 283px) 100vw, 283px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted for this new facility to be located here\nin Duplin County. This is additional evidence that our Duplin County Airport is\na great asset not only to our county but to all of Eastern North Carolina,\u201d\nsaid N.C. District 4 Rep. Jimmy Dixon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis new hangar positions our Forest Service Aviation\nProgram for the future, and this beautiful facility sets us up to continue\nserving North Carolina,\u201d said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. \u201cIt\u2019s\nimportant for us to have the space and resources to manage and protect our\nstate\u2019s forestland and as commissioner of agriculture, I can say I\u2019m excited\nabout this new home for some of the Forest Service\u2019s aviation resources.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCFS Eastern Aviation Hub provides forest fire detection\nand suppression service across the state, including larger areas like national\nforests, national parks and military installations. The NCFS also assists with\nforest management, pest control and water quality programs as well as emergency\nand land management activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCFS relocated its eastern hub and aviation staff of 10\nfrom Kinston to the new modern complex at Duplin County Airport, which includes\ntwo hangars, office space, other infrastructure built to meet the agency\u2019s\nneeds.
