{"id":21177,"date":"2022-03-06T15:03:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T15:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=21177"},"modified":"2022-03-06T15:06:43","modified_gmt":"2022-03-06T15:06:43","slug":"nbaas-aam-roundtable-marks-one-year-anniversary-of-accomplishment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/district-of-columbia\/nbaas-aam-roundtable-marks-one-year-anniversary-of-accomplishment\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA\u2019s AAM Roundtable Marks One-Year Anniversary of Accomplishment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) recently\nmarked the one-year anniversary of its Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Roundtable, a\n12-month period characterized by significant progress on a number of important\nmilestones for the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AAM uses electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft to\nmove people and cargo between places, and can be powered by hybrid electric\nsystems, batteries or potentially hydrogen fuel cells. NBAA launched the AAM\nRoundtable last year to provide a forum for high-level policy discussions with\nsector leaders to chart a course for the integration of AAM technologies into\nU.S. airspace and transportation infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AAM has the potential to revolutionize mobility in both\nurban and rural communities. Byrd serves on NBAA\u2019s Board\nof Directors, which works to promote aviation-related enterprises, including\nthose related to autonomous flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe pace of innovation and change is unfolding faster than\never in aviation, including the pioneering developments underway in the AAM\nsector,\u201d Byrd said. \u201cNBAA\u2019s AAM Roundtable is leading the way in charting a\nroadmap for the future of this groundbreaking mode of transport.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA and the AAM Roundtable have worked with Congress and\nfederal agencies to help address challenging infrastructure and operational\nissues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, House Aviation Subcommittee Chair Rick Larsen\n(D-WA-2) and Subcommittee Ranking Member Garret Graves (R-LA-6) introduced the\nAdvanced Aviation Infrastructure Modernization Act, or AAIM Act, which would\nhelp plan for and develop AAM infrastructure, including vertiports. NBAA\u2019s\nadvocacy and close coordination with roundtable members were critical to the\nintroduction of the AAIM Act, and the bill has already helped educate members\nof Congress about the potential benefits of AAM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA has also been working with the Federal Aviation\nAdministration (FAA) in several important areas that affect AAM. For example,\nthe association is coordinating with and providing input to the FAA on draft\nvertiport guidance and convening regular meetings with leadership from the FAA\nOffice of Airports and AAM Roundtable members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group is also working with congressional committee staff\nto make sure that AAM is represented at Capitol Hill hearings. In addition,\nroundtable members are meeting with Transportation Security Administration\n(TSA) officials to educate regulators on nascent AAM operations and security\nbest practices for initial operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking ahead to FAA Reauthorization on Oct. 1, 2023, NBAA\nplans to identify top industry issues for the agency to consider in assembling\nthe funding-and-oversight package; regular roundtable meetings are informing\nthose priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNBAA is thrilled to be involved in the continued\ndevelopment of AAM, which will preserve and enhance our global leadership in\naviation while creating hundreds of thousands of green jobs for the highly\nskilled U.S. aviation workforce,\u201d said Bolen. \u201cWe thank our roundtable partners\nfor all their efforts over the past year and look forward to the exciting work\nahead.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) recently marked the one-year anniversary of its Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Roundtable, a 12-month period characterized by significant progress on a number of important milestones for the sector.
