The MOU\naffords Supernal and the City the opportunity to take meaningful steps toward\ndelivering innovative, multimodal and community-focused mobility solutions that\nbenefit people and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"314\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Miami-and-UAM-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Miami-and-UAM-edit.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Miami-and-UAM-edit-287x300.jpg 287w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption><em>Left to right: Nathan Trail, director of international, state and local policy, Supernal; Miami Mayor Francis Suarez; Diana Cooper, global head of policy and regulation, Supernal.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>AAM has the potential to transform communities by enabling\nefficient inter- and intracity transport, including access to traditionally\nunderserved and remote locations, reducing carbon emissions and providing a\nseamless, end-to-end passenger experience, among other benefits. The MOU\ncreates a mechanism for the City to work with industry and community\nstakeholders to develop inclusive and forward-thinking policies that enable AAM\nand best serve Miami&#8217;s citizens and residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are honored to play a role in responsibly\nco-creating the future of mobility for the city of Miami,&#8221; said Jaiwon\nShin, CEO of Supernal, and President of Hyundai Motor Group. &#8220;Because of\nthe leadership demonstrated by Mayor Suarez, our work together will help\nestablish the city of Miami as a model for AAM market development we hope to\nreplicate in other cities.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to transform Miami into an epicenter of\ncreativity and innovation. This next chapter in the City&#8217;s long history\nincludes leading the future of mobility and making it easier for people to move\naround,&#8221; said Mayor Francis Suarez. &#8220;This MOU will pave the way for\ncities nationwide and across the world to solve mobility challenges that will\nenhance the quality of life for their constituents.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the MOU, Supernal and the City will collaborate\nwith community organizations to identify current gaps in existing\ntransportation, determine how AAM can help and if needed, recommend potential\nnew policies. The MOU also includes launching workforce development and\neducation initiatives that recruit and incubate local talent and integrate AAM\ninto existing transit networks, such as Metrorail, Metrobus and Metromover, among\nother systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policies developed and insights gained through this\nfirst-of-its kind collaboration can serve as a model for municipal leaders\nnationwide as more cities begin to adopt new mobility solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Venture Miami, the bridge-building team in the mayor&#8217;s\noffice responsible for developing the city&#8217;s innovation and technology\necosystem, will oversee key aspects of the MOU and convene regular working\ngroup meetings and collaborations with influential community, business and\neducation leaders to outline the necessary steps to actualize AAM in Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our partnership with the City of Miami is about more\nthan selling electric air vehicles or securing rights to establish\noperations,&#8221; said Diana Cooper, Global Head of Policy and Regulation of\nSupernal. &#8220;At this stage, our interest is bringing together different\npublic and private sector voices to explore when and how AAM can address the\ncity&#8217;s transportation needs and challenges.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooper added, &#8220;From there, we will create a roadmap\ntogether based on community input and other considerations. When Miami\nsucceeds, Supernal succeeds.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supernal will serve as an ongoing resource to the City and\nto Mayor Suarez in recognition of the leadership demonstrated in embracing this\ntransformative technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Company launched as the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.supernal.aero\/hyundai-motor-group-evolves-its-urban-air-mobility-division-to-supernal-llc-c1a1a19d3a27\">Urban Air Mobility Division of Hyundai Motor Group<\/a> in January 2020 and debuted as Supernal in November 2021. In addition to working with public and private stakeholders to responsibly shape the emerging AAM industry, Supernal is developing a family of electric air vehicles.
