Overall, when compared\nto 2020, all aircraft segments saw increases in shipments and preliminary\naircraft deliveries were valued at $25.2 billion, an increase of 10.2%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/GAMA-SOTI-2022-2-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21097\" width=\"219\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/GAMA-SOTI-2022-2-edit.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/GAMA-SOTI-2022-2-edit-184x300.jpg 184w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 219px) 100vw, 219px\" \/><figcaption><em>Above and on top, Pete Bunce shares information from the 2021 Aircraft Shipment and Billings Report.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\nstrength and tenacity of the general aviation industry has provided a strong foundation\nfor the industry to rebound from pandemic-related setbacks with a powerful\nshowing in 2021. Total aircraft shipments are converging on figures that were\nseen before the outset of the pandemic. The industry has been able to weather\nthe storm by strategically managing workforce and supply chain challenges,\nwhich unfortunately are still ongoing. Despite this adversity, there is robust\ninterest and excitement in our industry as we continue to further our\nadvancements in innovation, technology and environmental sustainability,\u201d said\nPete Bunce, GAMA President and CEO.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airplane\nshipments in 2021, when compared to 2020, saw piston airplane deliveries\nincrease 5.5%, with 1,393 units; turboprop airplane deliveries increase 19.0%,\nwith 527 units; and business jet deliveries increase 10.2%, with 710 units. The\npreliminary value of airplane deliveries for 2021 was $21.6 billion, an\nincrease of approximately 7.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piston\nhelicopter deliveries for 2021, when compared to 2020, saw an increase of\n27.5%, with 181 units; and preliminary civil-commercial turbine helicopter\nincrease 24.8%, with 645 units. &nbsp;The preliminary value of helicopter\ndeliveries for 2021 was $3.7 billion, an increase of approximately 28.0%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\npiston engine airplane market in North America accounted for 68.7% of overall\nshipments. The second largest market for piston airplanes for the seventh year\nin a row was the Asia-Pacific market at 14.4%. Turboprop airplane shipments to\nNorth American customers accounted for 52.6% of the global deliveries. The\nsecond largest market for turboprop airplane deliveries was the Latin American\nmarket at 15.7%. The North American market accounted for 65.9% of business jet\ndeliveries.
