The GOAA Board\nunanimously voted to approve a five-year contract at today\u2019s board meeting. He\nwas named the preferred candidate at last month\u2019s meeting pending negotiations\non terms of employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/kevin-j-thibault-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21021\" width=\"176\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kevin-j-thibault-edit.jpg 246w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kevin-j-thibault-edit-210x300.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 176px) 100vw, 176px\" \/><figcaption><em>Kevin Thibault<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI feel confident that we have chosen the best of the very\nbest to lead us toward the 22nd century,\u201d said Carson Good, Chairman of the\nGreater Orlando Aviation Authority. \u201cKevin Thibault will help lead the airport\nto new heights, with a focus on operational efficiency, flights to more\ndestinations and the most enjoyable airport experience possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Secretary of Transportation for the State of Florida,\nMr. Thibault oversees a $10 billion annual budget and a vast statewide network\nof airports, highways, rail systems and seaports. His prior experience includes\ntwo other positions within FDOT, along with extensive experience at several\nengineering firms since 1985<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his new role as the leader of Orlando International\nAirport and Orlando Executive Airport, Mr. Thibault will direct two of Central\nFlorida\u2019s vital economic engines, with a combined budget approaching three\nquarters of a billion dollars. He will also oversee the final stages of the\nmulti-billion-dollar South Terminal C construction project along with future\nexpansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Thibault\u2019s estimated start date is March 21, 2022.\nHowever, he may be available to begin as early as March 14, depending on\ncompletion of his responsibilities as Secretary of Transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kevin J. Thibault was named Secretary of the Florida\nDepartment of Transportation (FDOT) by Governor Ron DeSantis on January 18,\n2019. As Secretary, Thibault oversees the lead agency in state government with\nthe statutory responsibility to coordinate the planning and development of a\nsafe, viable, and balanced transportation system serving all regions of the\nstate, and to assure the compatibility of all components, including multimodal\nfacilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary Thibault has spent half of his professional career\nin the private sector providing transportation engineering services for a\nnumber of states, including Florida, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont,\nIndiana, and California, as well as several Canadian transportation entities.\nFor over 16 years, Thibault has served in various roles within FDOT from\nproject management to executive leadership and has consistently focused on the\nimportance of partnerships to deliver the transportation needs of the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kevin Thibault has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA).
