{"id":21007,"date":"2022-02-15T15:08:39","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T15:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=21007"},"modified":"2022-02-15T15:08:40","modified_gmt":"2022-02-15T15:08:40","slug":"faa-begins-new-phase-of-testing-to-safely-integrate-drones-into-the-national-airspace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/unmanned-systems\/faa-begins-new-phase-of-testing-to-safely-integrate-drones-into-the-national-airspace\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Begins New Phase of Testing to Safely Integrate Drones into the National Airspace"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will begin\nfield-testing new drone-traffic-management capabilities to further integrate\nthese aircraft into the National Airspace System.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/uas\/research_development\/traffic_management\/\">Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management<\/a> (UTM) Field Test, which will start in the spring of 2022, will allow the government and the drone community to continue improving standards, data-exchange methods and cybersecurity capabilities.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UTM includes a set of services that are complementary to,\nbut separate from, Air Traffic Management services for manned aircraft. It is\ntargeted toward small, unmanned aircraft operations in airspace, generally\nflying below 400 feet, and builds on current rules and capabilities that enable\nairspace access and authorization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test outcomes will provide the FAA with critical\ninformation to support the development of new policies and for industry\ndevelopment of updated standards to allow drones to routinely fly beyond visual\nline of sight of the operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA and its industry partners will conduct multiple\ndrone flights in realistic test scenarios to learn more about how to manage\ndrone traffic in varying environments.
