A new master’s degree is being offered at Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus<\/a> that is designed specifically for engineering and technology students to both further their education and elevate their career potential in the aerospace industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K-State Salina is offering a Master of Science in\naeronautics with two options. The first option is an aerospace certification\nfor individuals with interest in aerospace manufacturing or maintenance for\nproduct certification and airworthiness, or continued airworthiness\ncertification in aviation maintenance. Students will learn the specifics about\nthe certification process, which is critical to system safety. The second\ndegree option focuses on leadership and policy. This track is for aerospace\nleaders who want to work in business management or policymaking for any sector\nof aviation operations, from air carriers to airports, legislative bodies,\nlarge corporations, as well as many other public and private functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This new degree was created after meticulous research\nwas completed to identify the needs and gaps in the aerospace industry and\noffers coursework that will equip students with the tools to define, research\nand solve emerging challenges and those yet to be identified,” said Kurt\nBarnhart, K-State Salina professor of aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Master of Science in aeronautics offers students either\na thesis option for those interested in continuing to a doctoral program, or a\nnon-thesis option for those who are completing their studies at the master’s\ndegree level. The degree will be offered in an online format that provides a\nflexible learning style for working adults and allows industry professionals to\nshare their insights through teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This program is a direct result of working with\nindustry partners to understand the knowledge and skills needed to advance the\naerospace industry,” said Alysia Starkey, K-State Salina CEO and dean.\n“This degree provides graduates with fresh insights gained through\ncreative problem-solving and continues to enhance the campus’s mission of\nbecoming a global aeronautics leader.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
