And this expansion certainly makes a\npositive first impression.&nbsp; This new\nconcourse, the Parks L. Griffin Plaza, and public art have all come together to\nbe a direct reflection of our community.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ILM airport has experienced significant growth in passenger\nnumbers. 2019 was a milestone year as the airport served over 1 million\npassengers.&nbsp; Throughout Covid, ILM has\nseen a strong recovery in passenger numbers.&nbsp;\nIn fact, based on TSA passenger throughput data, ILM\u2019s passenger\nrecovery has outperformed other airports in North Carolina and across the\nUnited States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Hanover-County-Commission-Chair-and-Airport-Authority-Board-Member-Julia-Olson-Boseman-offers-remarks-resizededit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20964\" width=\"334\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Hanover-County-Commission-Chair-and-Airport-Authority-Board-Member-Julia-Olson-Boseman-offers-remarks-resizededit.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Hanover-County-Commission-Chair-and-Airport-Authority-Board-Member-Julia-Olson-Boseman-offers-remarks-resizededit-300x216.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/><figcaption><em>New Hanover County Commission Chair and Airport Authority Board Member, Julia Olson-Boseman, offers remarks. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith all our growth and demand, expanding the terminal has\nbeen a top priority. We want to ensure ILM has increased capacity to\naccommodate our current and future growth,\u201d stated Donna Girardot Airport\nAuthority Chairman.&nbsp; ILM\u2019s terminal\nexpansion project has been a multiyear $68 million project.&nbsp; \u201cI would like to thank our key federal and\nstate partners for making this project possible,\u201d Girardot shared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ILM\u2019s terminal expansion project has been completed in phases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Contract 1 of the terminal expansion added a new\noutbound bag room and screening equipment. <\/li><li>Contract 2 expanded ILM\u2019s airline ticket lobby,\nticket counters and ticket offices.<\/li><li>Contract 3, which was celebrated at the ribbon\ncutting, is the largest and most dynamic portion of the expansion project.
