{"id":20940,"date":"2022-02-10T22:50:22","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T22:50:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=20940"},"modified":"2022-02-10T22:52:42","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T22:52:42","slug":"aero-strategies-offers-737-flight-experience-with-throttle-up-on-non-training-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/north-carolina\/aero-strategies-offers-737-flight-experience-with-throttle-up-on-non-training-days\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Aero Strategies Offers 737 Flight Experience with Throttle Up on Non-Training Days"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>&#8220;Explore, Discover, Inspire, is our approach to Throttle Up.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Aero Strategies Group (ASG), located in\nMorrisville, offers Dry Leasing of their B737 FBS (Fixed Base Simulator) to\nB737 Operators, what\u2019s capturing the attention of pilots and educators\nthroughout the region is Throttle Up, an opportunity ASG provides to pilots and\nnon-pilots alike, who want to experience what it is like to fly a Boeing 737\nfrom the captain\u2019s seat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tom-Armstrong.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20942\" width=\"167\" height=\"201\"\/><figcaption><em>Tom Armstrong<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrottle Up was created to provide a simulator experience\nto the public that was not just a form of entertainment, but a fun and challenging\nexperience that immerses you into the day and life of an airline pilot,\u201d says\nTom Armstrong, President and Managing Director, Aero Strategies Group,\nLLC.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was actually Armstrong\u2019s 10- and 12-year-old daughters\nthat came up with the idea for Throttle Up. \u201cThey thought it was cool that I\ngot to fly to complete training every six months and fly a simulator, and how\ncool it would be if anyone could do it,\u201d said Armstrong. And now, anyone can do\nit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it turns out, seeing smiles on the faces of kids of all\nages, after experiencing the simulator, is what Armstrong finds the most\nrewarding. \u201cExplore, Discover, Inspire, is our approach to Throttle Up,\u201d said\nArmstrong. \u201cWhen a kid can walk away from the experience and believe a little\nmore in themselves and what they can achieve, then we have succeeded.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6429.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20943\" width=\"282\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6429.jpg 630w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6429-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 282px) 100vw, 282px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Come this spring they will offer a Day STEM Camp (6 hrs.) to\nkids ages 10+. This will include simulator and classroom sessions, and a field\ntrip to the RDU Control Tower. \u201cWe will also host field trips to our facility\nfree of charge to local area schools and youth groups,\u201d said Armstrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea for ASG came before the idea for Throttle Up. \u201cI\nwanted to establish a training center in North Carolina that would provide two\nimport things especially now that effects of a global pilot shortage are\nbecoming increasing apparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A clear path forward for pilots looking for a career in the airline industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A credible recruitment option for airlines seeking qualified pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of ASG\u2019s instructors are full-time airline pilots\nemployed at several different major airlines flying the Boeing 737, as well as\nexperience flying other Boeing aircraft. \u201cHaving instructors that can draw from\nnot only their many years of experience flying, but the experience they had in\nthe cockpit the week before flying the line is a valuable resource,\u201d said\nArmstrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6430.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20944\" width=\"313\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6430.jpg 642w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6430-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 313px) 100vw, 313px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tom Armstrong in the classroom.<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In regard to dry leases, the 737 operator utilizes their\nfacility as a turn-key training solution. ASG provides exclusive use of their\ntraining facility\u2019s amenities (classroom, break room, and simulator) allowing\nthe operator to conduct ground school and Systems Integration Training (SIT) on\nthe Boeing 737.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ASG, established in 2020, is also in the process of becoming\nan FAA Certified Part 142 Training Center. \u201cThe application\/certification\nprocess can take 6-9 months from start to finish working with the FAA,\u201d said\nArmstrong. \u201cThis certification will allow ASG to offer several options for\nqualification training such as, pilots seeking an ATP-Certification Training\nProgram, ATP Certificate, and Boeing 737 Type Rating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Armstrong, an airline pilot and Boeing 767 captain with a diverse aviation career spanning over 20 years flying aircraft for commercial, charter, corporate, and government flight operations throughout the world.
