This group of 20 nearly doubled the amount of\nthose who have received job offers through the program since it began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blake-Adkins-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20881\" width=\"295\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blake-Adkins-edit.jpg 486w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blake-Adkins-edit-283x300.jpg 283w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><figcaption><em>Blake Adkins<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For Blake Adkins, a professional flight major who grew up\nnear Delta\u2019s headquarters in Atlanta, the opportunity solidified his decision\nto attend Auburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGrowing up, it was always my dream to be a Delta pilot,\u201d\nAdkins said. \u201cWhen Auburn began the partnership with Delta, I was in high\nschool. I knew coming to Auburn would give me the best opportunity to see my\ndream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auburn is one of only 14 universities, and the only one in\nthe Southeastern Conference, that partners with Delta to secure career\nplacements for students through the Propel program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner with outstanding universities like\nAuburn around the country to give aspiring pilots a clear and defined path to a\nDelta flight deck,\u201d said Patrick Burns, Delta\u2019s vice president of flight\noperations and system chief pilot. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to welcoming even\nmore Tigers to our Delta family as we continue to bring the world\u2019s best aviators\nto the world\u2019s best airline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the qualified job offer, Propel students\nreceive leadership development and personal mentoring from active Delta pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe College of Liberal Arts\u2019 commitment to student\nexcellence includes preparing our students for success during and after their\ntime at Auburn,\u201d said Ana Franco-Watkins, interim dean. \u201cThe partnership\nbetween Auburn and Delta is proof of the work being done at Auburn to ensure\nbright futures for our students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auburn Aviation, one of the longest continually running\naviation education programs in the country, provides the latest training in the\nclassroom and in the cockpit. Adkins credits this training with making him a\ncompetitive candidate for the Propel program and a previous internship\nplacement with Delta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe leadership opportunities and amazing professors in the\nDepartment of Aviation helped prepare me to take this next step,\u201d Adkins said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with Delta is a game-changer for Auburn\nAviation,\u201d said James Witte, department chair. \u201cIn addition to providing career\nopportunities for our students, the resources Delta and The Delta Air Lines\nFoundation have provided ensure that our students receive a world-class\naviation education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auburn and Delta have a longstanding relationship that has served\nstudents for many years. In 2018 Delta Air Lines, The Delta Air Lines\nFoundation and the Jacobson Family Foundation granted $6.2 million to support\nmultiple programs at Auburn. The gift funded the construction of the Delta Air\nLines Aviation Education Building, which serves as the home to the Department\nof Aviation, and also funded the purchase of an aircraft simulator and created\nendowed faculty professorships in the Department of Aviation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty aviation students have received job offers through a partnership between Auburn University and Delta Air Lines.
